gas additives

Postby rufus15 » Tue Apr 03, 2012 10:05 am

Have a question about gas additives. When I picked up my bike at the dealership. (by the way not very helpful at all) they just gave me the bike and said thanks for your business and off I went. I digress my dad has had a few wings and with the ethanol added to gas it has created havoc on the carbs he's tried stable during prolonged parking as well some others I cannot remember. Can anyone recommend something that really works . :D

do you have any stations that offer no ethanol? Pricy, but we do have 4 stations here that offer that.

not that I'm aware of, I'll look around atlanta. How ever damage is done three tanks of it allready consumed and I'm guessing that 98% of stations have it.

We've probably been using ethenal for longer than we know, I think in the late 70's it was used.

Go to a boat marina, they will normally have ethanol-free gasoline. Some small airports will have it as well, as some small piston aircraft have a "MoGas" STC that allows them to run auto fuel.

There is a product called seafoam. Used in the boating industral. Good stuff.I understand that boat motors are the worst with this new gas..Sally

I pour a 1/4 can of seafoam in every time I fill up. Figure it is cheap insurance to keep those carbs clean. $20.00 bucks at most for the year is not bad and so far the old wing just keep purring.

Also, we have at least 2 stations within a mile that have ethanol free stuff.
