Son layed my 85 down today !

Postby HALBUDD » Sat May 19, 2012 9:28 pm

Some of you have read my posts about my son, he rides with me all the time on my 85 aspy. Well we were all going out to breakfast this morning as we always do. I was lead bike on my 96 aspy and my son and his girl were behind me on my 85. I had just gone around a small turn on a side street and heard a loud scraping sound behind me looked back to see my son and his girl laying in the middle of the street, bike down too. Jumped of my bike and ran back to check on them both had road rash and my son had the bike fall on is ankle. I patched both them up and took my son to the hospital. He had road rash on his elbow, knee, and shoulder. His girl friend had some on her elbow and a small spot on her hand. After xrays to my sons ankle they said no broken bones just tore some ligaments and now has a small cast on his ankle and will need to be of his feet for awhile. But both will be fine The only thing I could see was that the right side lower light bar that raps around the whole rearend looks like he may have leaned a little to far and the light bar caught the ground and lifted the rear wheel up causing it to lose traction. Lucky they were only going about 10 mph. So I guess I wont have my best riding buddy to ride with for a while. But Im just glad both are ok. Hal

He leaned enough to lift the rear wheel at 10 mph! I suspect that light bar may have contacted the ground when the bike was already on its way down. Glad to hear everyone is (mostly) alright though.

I have had some close ones before I started three wheeling it , but not quite that bad. My thoughts and prayrs are with your friends, may their recovery be short and the rest of the riding season great.

How's the girl doing? Will she ride again? What about your son, will he ride again? How did you get the bike home? Tow it? Someone else ride it home..??? Are you ok from all the excitment of a crash and seeing you loved one's laying in the street on the hot payment,, oh wait it was morning so it wasn't that hot yet.. glad everyone is ok... What about that riding jacket, where is it, hanging up in the closet?   Glad all is well now..

Littlebeaver, There both ok all most all healed up now my son Jamie should be getting the cast off of his ankle anytime now. As we were not to far from home we ate are breakfast at Bob Evans and after we were done I hook my bike back to the house and got the suv to go back up and pick them up. My wife sat with them at Bob Evans until I got back only about 20 mins. She took my son to the hospital and I rode the bike back home then went up to check on them. It did not do any damage to the bike other then a few scratches to the crash bar. It slid along on the rear wraparound light bar on the rear end. It did bust a few of the small plastic chrome grills that cover the the red lights, but Ill probably just take them off. And yes my heart skipped a couple of beats!!! just glad it was a slow turn crash and not at any higher speed. So all and all every buddy was lucky, and yes they will both be riding again soon as they both love to ride. Hal
