One Bent New Wing gone

Postby bootlace » Sat Jun 02, 2012 8:56 am

G'day
We went and purchased a new 2012 black wing in March. In April with only 2019 k's on the clock I kind of bent one black wing.
whilst traveling up the coast to cairns we come off on a right hand sweeper in the wet. 5 busted ribs 3 fratured vertabrae one puntured lung and splenic contusions to the rider.
Two broken Wrists one requiring plates for the pillion. $35K worth of damage to the bike (just in the panels ) there wasnt one panel or surface that was not scatched , Smashed or bent.
We are on the mend and very lucky to be here to write this , I hope to return to work soon.
The saving grace was the protective gear we had on, it absorbed quite a bit of the impact force which our soft bodies don't absorb to well.
The wing will be replaced the riding gear will be replaced, and we are walking and talking thats the main thing.
and thanks to the couple who stopped to help and stayed with me and the wife until the ambo arrived. :D

Sorry to read of your accident....but glad you are still around to tell everyone about it. I just made a post on another thread about wearing helmets and why we wear them. When they are needed they become very handy that you had them on.

Hope you and your wife have a speedy recovery and like the others said....glad you will still be riding.

Wow, that's not great news, but glad to hear you're walking and talking. I ALWAYS have all my gear on, never ride without it. I see people around here riding with no helmet, wearing shorts, tank top and a pair of flip-flops, and I just shake my head. It's only those of us who have crashed who can truly know the benefits of protective gear.
