Goldwing vs Hoda Civic

Postby 1CheeseLouise » Sun Jun 03, 2012 10:58 am

When people ask about my Godwing (Almost everyone who sees me with the bike), I have a standard explanation. I tell them that I bought a Honda Civic, but the dealer forgot to put on two of the wheels, the doors and the roof. And going to the dealer is such a hassle. I just don't feel like going back there yet. Why do people always doubt what I say?

Does anyone else get inundated by questions about their bike?

What do you tell them?

Having an 83 naked 1100, most people confuse it with a BMW. There are a few nonbike savy that ask me if it's a Harley. To them I just laugh and say "No, it's a Honda"

I once had a Kawasaki vulcan 500. A guy came up to me and talked to me for a bit, and asked me if it was a harley. "Yeah, what gave it away? The parallel twin or the radiator?" Seriously. I wouldn't be caught dead on a harley.

I told one guy it was a VW engine.
And on my gl1000,the piston rings are the same as the civic from the same year.
Actually on a civic forum, they suggest using the gl1000 pistons in their engine because their more robust.

Mostly, people just want to know what year it is and look surprised when I tell them it's probably older than them.

"Told it is OLDER THAN THEM!" is a good line. Especially if you're riding a NEW bike!

What does the civic have in it a 1800 as well? If so I wonder if any of the parts can be used on the Goldwing, later on in 20 years guys may consider that.. :D
