Introduction and request for help

Postby Rsdracing » Sat Jun 09, 2012 8:30 pm

Hello all. I am BJ. I live in Yuma and retired from the navy last after 23 years. I need some help. I am trying to find my fathers motorcycle. It is a 1982 Goldwing. Full dress with an eagle etched in the windshield. It had a trailer hitch and candle stick lights on the rear trunk. It was his and after he died mom sold it. I would like to find and restore. Last known location was San Diego CA. It was sold from a house in El Cajon Ca. Thank you.

thanks for your service firstly. :) You should be able to check with the title office for when it was sold and transfered from your father or mothers name to whoever it was sold to. From there with some phone calls and a bit of luck titling offices should be able to follow the names of people it was transfered to to the present owner unless it was junked or totalled and even then they should be able to tell you that.
Ive had one bike that I had tracked back thru its owners to the dealer it was bought from, all from the local licenceing office. Good luck :)

Thank you all. It was sold about 9 years ago. I know it is a longshot but I have to try. It was brown and gold and dressed out. I am trying to find a pic now. I will post it when I find it. Thanks again.

First "Thanks for your service", 2nd welcome to the board/bored. Good luck on you search. The first place to go is the local BMV and start the search there. You may be amazed at the results, but give them time.

Do you have anything with the vin number on it, you may be able to do a search from your computer, if you have the vin # maybe you can check it like they do the car fax system, I'm not sure if they do that for motorbikes though...

Ok I found some old pics and I have the plate number . It was a California plate 2U7468. I will be in California next week so I am going to go to the DMV and see what I can find out.

The eagle on the windshield had the words PAPA under the eagle. I will post the pic as soon as I can.

Thanks again.

Just got some good info. I was able to call a friend that is a San Diego police officer. He ran the plate number and gave me the vin. It was last registered in 2004 in Oceanside Ca. Here is the vin# 1hfsc0213ba122490. It is actually a 1981 not an 82. I know is is still a longshot but I have to try. I will let you know what I find.

I keyed that vin.# in and it said that car fax has 2 records of that bike...It's probably the same information you have.. You are getting closer man, the bike really means alot to you and I assume you will make the owner a really good offer to get it back, with all the work I did on my bike and if a previous owner's son wanted to buy back from me, I would have a hard to parting with it..I'm sure you are prepared for rejection once you do find it..I wish you all the luck in the World, I just hope it hasn't been parted out as so many are today.. I know you won't give up looking for it..

I am prepared for the worst but got to hope for the best. It does mean a lot. I was never in a position to look for it before and now I am. I would be very willing to make a great offer for it when I find it. The idea of restoring it with my son means a lot also. Thank you all for the support.
