Gold Wing specific magazine?

Postby harkgold » Thu Jul 05, 2012 7:51 pm

Just curious.........
Each time I find myself at a magazine rack or in a book store I look for magazines that are Gold Wing specific and I've not had any luck yet.
Of course I can find magazines galore for the big "HD" fans but so far nothing for the Gold Wing.
My gosh....I would think that as large a following that the Gold Wing has that someone would be printing a Gold Wing specific magazine.
Maybe one exists but I've just not stumbled upon it yet.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Harkgold :?:

Right. The GWRRA magazine is the only one I know of that is Goldwing specific.

However my FAVORITE motorcycle magazine is by far Motorcycle Consumer News. It's entirely subscriber-supported, so there is NO advertising. It's intelligently written, with lots of good information, and they frequently talk about Goldwings and Goldwing-related stuff - along with lots of stuff that is applicable to ALL motorcycles.

As mentioned WingWorld from GWRRA comes out every month. Can be viewed online, but only by members. You can subscribe to the magazine only for $40 / year. With membership being $45 they probably don't sell a lot of subscriptions. For me the benefits of being in the GWRRA far out way the cost of membership.

Thanks guys for the tips! I will check into these.
It kind of bugs me that in the vast majority of magazines found on the rack you are lucky to find a rare article where the Gold Wing is even mentioned let alone written about extensively.

It is true there are a lot of wings on the road. Now if rallies around the country are any indication of what is out there, the Harley outnumbers the Goldwing by about 50 to 1 from what I can see. Maybe it is the fact that maybe a lot of wingers don't do the MC rallies?? or the rallies I attend...
But probably not really enough wingers that would subscribe to support a goldwing specific Mag...After all, 2/3's of all the Magazines still around are hurting, and look at all the icons that have folded in the last 10-15 yrs because of the net. Even the mags that are in existance of any type have about 100 pages of ads for every 20 pages of story text which includes pics. So you are just buying advertising that someone else paid a bunch to offer you. Never understood that.

Yes, your'e right. I have noticed quite a decline in the number of magazines overall plus the cost of a quality magazine off the rack anymore seems to be approaching $10.00 or more. It would take a tremendous number of dedicated Gold Wing fans to support a Gold Wing specific magazine. I guess I thought that within the English speaking countries there would be enough fans to support a magazine.
I find also that most magazines lack what the real world motorcyclist is interested in. Articles describing how to install the latest $3000.00 ram air conversion package for your bike is hardly within the range of interest or finances for the average Joe subscriber riding a vintage beater which he is more interested in learning how to maintain and keep running for another few years.

You should also check mags that deal with vintage bikes. There's a lot of old wings still out there. Mine's an 83! :D

You may be right as I have never been to any "winger" rallies....they are all family oriented and I tend to stick to the more "Adult" rallies. The naughty nitey and wet t-shirt (optional) contests are a little more what I like instead of a bunch of kids running around...Nothing against family rallies, I do go to a couple because of their charities, but maybe 1 out of 6 that I go to each year. So I may not know what I am talking about...just happens to be the rallies I go to.
