85 1200 Interstate back home - Yay

Post by oldguy51 » Thu Jul 05, 2012 9:04 pm

Over 4 years ago I sold my GW 1200 Interstate to a friend that fixes old GWs as I had purchased a 08 VTX1300T.

Last week he called me and said that the bike had been gone trough and running like new. I almost went crazy as he was going to sell it but wanted to know if I would like it back for a very minimal cost.

Well asked wife and she immediately said "Yes". Today it came back home where it belongs.

This was originally bought by our son for our wedding anniversary and we put miles on it during our time with GWTA as local chapter directors for about 3 years. We went on camping trips with our tent trailer and many fund raising events throughout CA.

I am one happy rider now as I have my "baby" back with all the memories.

And yes it runs so smooth it is like the day it first came home.

My wife told me to "quit hugging the bike" as I was leaving marks on the wax job !! 8-)

Well more info to come as time goes on.

I have been reading up on all the tech info on this informative site and remembering how to use different options on the bike.

Take care all.

Ride safe

I can imagine how happy you must be. I know I would do about anything to get my first wing (75) back. Will never happen though as was stolen in late 80's with the help of an x-wife who I seperated from at the time. Hope you enjoy many more miles on it.
