New member...I live near Daytona beach

Postby Wesexcellence » Tue Feb 23, 2010 2:00 pm

I just purchased a 2007 GL1800 w/ nav.
This is the 3rd Goldwing I've owned but the 1st newer than 1982.

I'm enjoying it so far and have customized it by removing all chrome and powdercoating black as well as having all pieces painted to match the black metallic paint.
I have a way to go but I've added an Escort Passport 9500ci system and custom mounted a homelink for my gate and garage doors.
I also changed out the windshield and put clear turn signal lenses.
So, as you can see I'm playing with it alittle.

I've been searching to see if there's going to be a meet-up in daytona bikeweek but can't find any posts.

Welcome to the site from white WIS, we got hit again last evening.Just wondering how many miles you have put on the old 82
wing. I too have a old 1982, with only 50K miles. As you know up here in the north we are lucky to ride 8 months out of the year.
My bike has been sitting since the end of Nov, just waiting for me again to give her some more miles.
I'm sure you will get some answers about whats going on down by you fellows. In fact it is snowing again as I type, :(

It's snowing here today too. I'm ready for winter to end!

Actually, I'm not...I have barely even started my winter maintenance! Time to get that into gear...

God with all you have into that bike of yours you have to run out of money or Idea's soon. I saw the brake lines
cost, and said to my self " That too " I better not even look at mine......I saw the other day , you said some thing like
I may have to do a picture repair on that.I just for get what it was. but I must say, you don't miss a thing!!
I'm working on the GPS on the bike to keep rain from destroying it.And it has to be cheap...

I just put my GPS in the middle of the handlebars, so when it rains, the windscreen keeps the rain from getting to it. If I park, I take it off. I only once got stuck in rain where I was stopped, and I took it off then, as well. I've thought about taking it apart and trying to waterproof it...maybe another day.
