That is one thing about buying used....I thought Iw as getting a deal and I am still fixing "things" and thanks to this site, I am doing the best that I can. So, fingers crossed it is only the tire you have to wrory about, that will be a good deal. Enjoy!

Welcome aboard rooferX. Now with the tire off is a good time to look at a few things in da back of the Wing. Pull the driveshaft and clean and regrease the splines, look at your rear brake pads for wear. And change the oil/grease on the final drive. I'm sure there are a couple of other things I'm missing but this is all I could tell you at this time. Have fun and be safe!

My mechanic , he"s good but with the bike, down, at his shop im like at his mercy, the tire will cost me more than I can get it for,,I wasnt planing on this extra expense right now and I'll probably have him change front also just to be done with it,I thought the front was iffy.anyway..wanted to start doing stuff myself so guess i"LL start with the fluids after I get her back..thanks

Now time to get a little practice in with it before you tackle the road. I know you had a VTX but the wing is bigger, handles different. If you have seen our forum lately a good way to get used to your bike is to set up two markers, such as traffic cones, approx 40 feet apart in a parking empty parking lot. do figure 8s around the cones and try to go as slow as you can without putting your feet down. When you are good at that, move them closer together. As you get them down to 10 feet or less the dffuculty rises dramaticly. But it is great handling practice because it gets you used to both sides turning and slow handling. And body english helps a lot. The more you do this the more you are famaliar with your bike.
