Newbie

Postby aznyaz » Wed Aug 01, 2012 6:37 am

Hey everyone, I'm new here and getting my message in to enter the contest, but will have plenty of questions and observations as soon as I get my bike. I haven't owned a bike since the early 80's and I'm getting back into it with an '81 GL1100I with 13K miles on it. Back then it was my dream to have one. So, when the planets align and all my stars are in order, it should be residing in my garage, hopefully next week. Talk to you all soon.

Ask away on your questions.....plenty of good people on here that will give you good info.

BTW- Thanks for letting us know when the planets are going to align........ :D

Those are MY planets that have to align. I hope yours do too, when needed. I see you are in Alabama. I'm up in VOL country, Knoxville, TN but I won't get into any football debates with you.

Looking forward to getting on this bike. I've been checking a lot of the DIY articles and they're really helping me understand the Gold Wing. One I haven't been able to find is anything on the stator or alternator alternatives. Are there any on this site. I hve found a lot of useful info on Steve Saunders' site though. Is it OK to talk about other sites and forums?

I'll be keeping in touch.

Thanks.

i am new here also. i haven't ridden in 25 years as circumstances just didn't allow and now with gas prices going back up and now kinda forces me to ride again. have found an '86 Aspencade with 51,000 miles. not the greatest looking and needs some TLC, ie new paint and some new panels, however she runs strong and everything is there except the headset helmets, which i don't need right now until i get my riding confidence built back up. good luck and ride aware.

It's been 30 years for me. I got the itch when I took a ride on my brother's H-D Softtail Deluxe and I knew I had to have a big bike, along with gas prices and my wife wanting to ride along, this is the route we're taking.

Thanks.

i understand. i am having a little trouble getting used to the weight difference also and taking turns from a full stop is taking some getting used to. my throttle doesn't return like it should and i have to manually turn it back or it gets interesting.
