Trailer build

Post by liljack » Sun Aug 05, 2012 4:17 pm

Picked a car top carrier for $25.00 at our church's yard sale yesterday 8-) . Very good condition, white top with grey bottom. Anyone know if you can paint one of these? I am interested in matching the scheme on my bike but not sure any paint will hold up to the flexing the carrier will go through.

Never done it myself, but.....
Assuming the cartop carrier is made out of ABS plastic, as most of the tupperware on the Goldwing, there are paints available that are made to stand up to the flexing of plastic. The Clymer manual for GL1500 has a chapter on this.

Yes it can be painted but you need to do it right to make sure the paint sticks properly or it will peel off.
Go to any good automotive paint supply shop and tell them what you have and they can help you choose the right product to get the job done right. The main thing in painting is prep....prep....prep. You must get it ready for the paint which is the hard part.
