Stock seat, jeans and sore a** = advice?

Postby gof » Sun Aug 12, 2012 3:21 pm

The 84 Wing is back on the road thanks to the people on this forum. Yesterday I was out about three times on it, for a total of about 4 hours.

It was a moderate day temperature wise, but I noticed by the final ride I was a bit sore/chafed. Its seems like moisture against the jeans and the saddle and skin, causes some issues.
Is there something I should be wearing or using on the seat that could improve the experience? This is without buying a custom seat etc. My first impression is jeans might not be the best long ride fabric.

Considering a road trip, my first and want to address the obvious.

After a laugh, I had to start to wonder...this seems like it would work and it an affordable answer.

First question is...aren't the beads uncomfortable?

I had one of those things once for about two hours. It's in the woods somewhere. A lot of riders like sheep skin as it's cool in summer and warm in fall and spring.

Go to walmart in the automotive section, look beside the steering wheel covers you will find gel pad seat covers about 20.00 bucks. I have them on both my bikes and when its hot I put them in the rear trunk to keep them cool. They work pretty good on long rides and allow air flow between you and the seat. Hal

Have a look at this item on eBay, [color=#800040]Item number: 290756109651, in Oz, where there are nearly as many sheep as New Zealand, we have sheep skins in most of the cars and trucks, and quite a few MC riders prefer them to getting uncomfortable on their butt. They do keep you warmer in the cold times, and cooler inthe hot times - however, they do not particularly like the rain, so you may have to get a cover for it if you get a lot of rain or dew overnight. Buy some LD Comfort under clothing. I can't say enough about this stuff. No more scrotum strangulation. It's your shorts that are hurting you.

I had the same thought, that there must be an undergarment. It's the moisture from sweat against cotton underwear and jeans. That and skin does not mix. I am going to start with the undergarments.
