Prepairing on the kitchen floor

Postby tom84std » Tue Aug 14, 2012 3:56 pm

I endured a life changing injury in April three months ago this year. In the aftermath, my best and closest friend knew I was bored and was due for a challenge. Aside from rebuilding Betty and restoring her to roadworthy condition again, he knew i needed a different ride. I've ridden a Goldwing1000 all over Colorado. Near 30,000 miles. My friend challenged me to explore an entirely new area in the southern quadrant. I of course agreed.I'm preparing the motorcycle. Packing the backpack, melting the ends of nylon ropes. It's forced me to plan ahead... http://www.network54.com/Forum/161422/m ... en+packing

I wish you luck on your trip. If you make it to the U.P. of Michigan I will buy you a cup of coffee. Ride safe.

Take some Tampons. Excellent survival gear. Fishing bobber, water filter, fire starter (kindling), cotton swabs, bandages. There are more.

Damn, dingdong, I only meant that as a joke to my best friend and riding partner. At my age with adult children and the resulting grandchildren I can honestly say that I haven't had such things in my house in over twenty years. Now you've got me thinking I may need to go buy a few for the trip.

Glad to be of service. Good luck on your trip. Where in the Southern quadrant will you be riding?

Dingdong we're doing the Highway of Legends State Hwy 112 from Trinidad to Walsenburg. I25 to Colorado City, 12 and surrounding back roads to Canon City. County roads from there up to Florissant where my sister lives. I know my signature picture shows a '79 1000 with a trailer. That was my first Wing bought in 2001. I rode that bike several times in Colorado in the North, Central and Western ranges. This time I'll be on an '84 Standard (as my name implies). My friend is now the owner of my old '79 and I'll be riding with him.

Sounds like a great trip. My family has a cabin west of there in Pagosa Springs. Haven't been in a while though. I have ridden most of the roads in Colo. Now trying to see the rest of the country.
