Postby Possum51 » Sat Sep 01, 2012 9:00 am

Any objections to adding a Christian Biker section to the forum?

I'd like that. Better yet, a group in my area that's not all over 70.
The GL1800 is a crotch rocket on Steroids.

Interesting request.
Could you discuss the reasons for a seperate section for a singular religion bike rider?

I'm quite sure the discussions won't be centered around Christian Bikes...but I'm willing to be corrected on that point. :D
Non-religious bikes are discussed everywhere else on the site, and there are no doubt several zillion other sites to discuss religion.

Not objecting....but interested in the reasons for the request.

Fair enough questions, I was just wondering if anyone on the site would like to see or maybe read say a daily scripture, not to push any one group or religion per say, just a place for a daily scripture. Thats why I posed the question.

Would be fine w/me.
Wife and I have been members of the CMA(ChristianMotorcyclistAssociation) for years.
Daily scripture, along w/a place to post prayer needs would be great.
No "agruments" about "religion" please.
Disagreements just give non-believers more reason to reject God.

There are dozens of Christian Biker forums out there. Just join one of them. I am a Christian but I don't want to have other docturines shoved @ me. I am a gay woman & I bet there are a lot of you all that would condenm me. Just as there are ppl that are members here that may be members of the KKK. Staunch examples yes but my point is Religion or Politics do not belong on a public Bike forum. As a matter of fact, I would bet that Admin has rules to that effect in the rules of the forum. A true believer hates the sin and prays for the sinner, which we are one and all. Some of us are forgiven.

The OP should have added a poll. I don't think it can be added after, at least I don't have the option that I can see.

For the record, I hate it when someone tries to shove religion or politics down my throat. Door knockers, clique groups at church, people in front of wally world, etc.

I come to this site for Honda Gold Wing related discussion. If I want a daily scripture, I believe I have a book of my own for that. I also am pretty sure that you can get it at many on line locations. I'm not opposed to any religious group, but I don't think it belongs here. Next thing you know we'll have (from the comment above) a specialized Christian Biker section for the gay females only, see what I mean.
Or the(list copied from Wikipedia);

Please take no offense of the use of the example given.

I'm one of those people that frequently goes motorcycle riding on Sunday morning and my justification for this is simple, I think God would rather I was riding my motorcycle thinking about him instead of sitting in church thinking about my motorcycle.

I think it would breed arguments and next thing you know we'd drive ppl away just because they don't want to be involved in an argument over religion.

You forgot the subsection 1.2.1- infinity ie:- Catholic, Anglican, Baptist, Lutherin, United, Mennonite & so on & so on & so on. LOL
the problem I have with so called Christians is that every one of the above have thier own interpation of the Bible. Also they feel they are the only true religion where as Christian, Hindus, Islamic & Moslems al worship the same god & 3 of the 4 acknolwledge Jesus as a phrophet. So why in the love of God do we have all these dam wars?

I asked the question to see if there would be any objections to the posting of a daily scripture and may a place for prayer requests, not to start a debate on religion(s). Guess I got my answer, Sorry I brought it up.

I'm on the fence about this one. The primary focus of this site was originally to provide technical information and help. It has evolved into a community of people, and I would like to think it's one of the friendliest and nicest bike forums around.

Very few topics cause more strife and division than religion and politics (and oil brands!). I would hate to see otherwise friendly people end up unhappy (and leaving!) because of perceived slights, arguments, or similar issues. So while I have absolutely nothing against Christian bikers (and my gosh there are a lot of Christian biker groups), I think I'm going to say that it's not the best place here for it.

Anyone else have other thoughts?

I completely understand and don't want to cause any problems on the site. If you wish you can delete this thread, no hard feelings at all. I really like this site and have no intent on leaving.

My father told me if you go visiting (and that's what I do here) never discuss religion, politics or football, that way they might ask you back.

At the last Census to the question Religion I think it was 4% of the population put "Jedi Knight". That was missing off the list as well.

LIke it or not, everyone needs someone thinking about them. unfortunately the US is straying so far from what our country was founded for and on. the ACLU, Liberals, etc. all want to Change it - instead of going to a place that already has what they want. leave my US alone and keep prosperity, liberty, and freedom here!!!!

I hope my signature does not offend anyone or groups ? :)

One of the things I noticed most on this particular thread is the diversity of people that do ride Gold Wing bikes in which I think is wonderful.
"If" the powers-that-be allow the so named post/thread to be permanently added I will gladly post and read it daily.
"If" they do not add it well that is ok to. Like several have already mentioned, there are many other Christian forums on-line. :)
Just my 2 cents. Please carry on in a civil way .

Sir Rides alot, great handle, first time I noticed it and your picture, oh he is off duty. I was looking for a suit of armor. When you are jousting, do you place the lance between the mirror and windshield? Now be off with ye and save the kingdom.

Sure... for one thing I do not check the dates on when something was last posted. ( I wasn't aware these subjects had a expiration date on them) :D
If my post a fends you in any way or fashion, I do humbly apologize because that was not my intentions.
Should the site editor go through this entire forum and delete every post you deem "out dated" or close them so us newer people can't comment?
I don't know but I think I will start a poll on it to find out.
You have an awesome day sir, I know I will . :)

Doesn't offend me at all. Why does my question offend you? I was just curious as to why someone would want to turn this into a Christian (or any other religion) motorcycle forum. You have a blessed day. Sir.

MY $0.00002
In my travels what I have observed, when there's discussion on ANY subject then one makes some sort of religious point, nearly everyone in the group shuts up and/or sleeks away.
I eventually understood that religion belongs in ones soul UNLESS it was asked for it or it's part of that curriculum.
With that said, I can understand why wars have been fought, it's almost a never ending discussion/argument.
