NEW MEMBER, NEW BIKE!! 1981 GL1100 ORIGINAL COLLECTOR

Postby Ol'Toyo » Sun Sep 09, 2012 1:30 am

Hello Goldwing Docs Members,

Two weeks ago I purchased my first motorcycle, a 1981 GL1100 original. Having owned a Honda Ruckus scooter for years, it was time to get a real bike. As soon as I saw this one online, I new it was the one

Hopefully the pics I uploaded go right here:

Anyways, the odometer reads 46,xxx km's(28000).

The bike is absolutely mint! Everybody that I show it too can't believe it. I almost want to believe that the odometer hasn't been rolled over. A few of my friends(lifelong riders) say there's no way this bike has 146,000km's, but even if it does I don't care, I love her :P  It has one little minor carburetor/syncing issue I'm working on, but for $1400 I'm still more than tickled pink.

Anyways, I've been changing the fluids/filters/tires/plugs etc, and wanted to thank all the members here who have put up the DIY's and helped me thus far. It's been fun and EASY(THANKS TO YOU)!

Cheers!!!

Congratulations on the new bike and welcome! The bike does look in mint condition, I know you'll keep it that way. Always keep her in a garage.

Congratulations. I'm also a new member and also bought myself a 1989 GL1500 a week ago. I'm still waiting for the delivery. My first wing was a 1976 GL1000 and my son is riding it now.

Awesome score! You will have many Smiles for the Miles with that very very nice bike. The power that bike has over the Rukus will bring a grin with every twist of your right hand! :D
