Classic Wing Club.

Postby wjnfirearms » Wed Oct 24, 2012 8:24 am

I came upon the Classic Wing Club through a thread reply on a technical issue to help out another board member. After I looked at the tech page mentioned, which was pertinent to my Wing, I perused the entire site, what a non member could. I didn't know this group existed. Is anyone here a member and is membership worth the $35/year to join it?

I came across that same web site and even got an email from the manager that he needed the money to keep the web site up and running. I read several web sites and most run ads to pay for the site so maybe this one is not running ads, but after recieving an email telling me he needs money I deleated the site. Maybe just me but it struck me wrong.

I'm sorry, there is no way it costs even $35 a year to run that site. It's an amateurish thing thrown together by people who don't know much about web site design. It could easily be run on a virtual web server. They offer an email mailing list, and have an online forum using a very outdated PHPBB software - except their forum doesn't work! Accessing their forum gives you:

phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database

They might have a few good technical articles on the site, but there is no way in hell I would pay even $5 a year for membership in that site, let alone $35.

I guess that basically answers that. Thank you, guys.

I'm anything but cheap and don't mind joining a club/organization that is worth joining, but I'm adverse to throwing my money away also.

It has a great write up with OEM parts numbers and O-ring sizes, for a waterpump swap.

Other than that, I don't see much online content, unless the forum is behind a firewall.
I think most of their "content" is offline.....like RL.
