Found another one

Postby rodee71 » Sun Nov 04, 2012 9:01 pm

We were down in Harrisonburg (Va.) last w/e getting a new rear tire put on after my blow-out at 50 mph, and went in the Farmers Market next door to the Blue Ridge Honda dealer. Imagine my surprise when the first thing I saw was a trio of old Honda's, a 50cc, 100cc, and a 150cc parked next to each other. Looking around, I immediately saw a line of old mc's, and in them was a wineberry-colored miniature of my '82 1100 Interstate, an '82 Silverwing. What was even more surprising was the fact that it only had 3 1/2 miles on it! A true collector's item. There were more, so I've included the pics. Enjoy.

That's definitely NOT the '82 GL500 I test drove when I went to Blue Ridge Honda a couple of months back :D

i wonder who Honda had in mind with the GL500- my dad had one and let me take it, i brought it back soon , very low on HP and whiny at 50-55- out of breath in my opinion so all the gears were incredibly low -maybe it was all about the right wrist when i rode it, i would find it awesome now :')- was the 650 Hondas hasty answer to the 500? -- nice pics, all handsome bikes
in the mid 60s my grandfather and his 7 brothers were buying little Honda trail bikes for $200 each -state land up by Leroy Mi was paradise with scarey undoable sand bowls and miles of pine trails

I did pick up an '83 GL650i. Just have been spending my time on the GL1200 LTD maintenance lately.

I had a gl500 silverwing full dress at one time. I paid 400 for it at a Harley dealership. It was a trade in.
It is what i call a high rpm engine. Shift it at lower rpm's and it couldn't get out of it's own way. Had to run the rpm's up high and it had a bit of a vibration in it. Run great, just low on power.
