My new (for me) Goldwing

Postby tbeiler » Mon Nov 19, 2012 11:48 am

Hi All - My name is Tony and I recently purchased a 1986 Aspencade. Considering the last bike I had was in 1978 ( a 550 Honda), this bike is awesome. I have been wanting a Goldwing for many years now and finally made the decision to get one. Bike is in great shape, stator was done a few years ago by previous owner and was very well looked after. I have been riding every chance I get and plan to until the snow starts flying here in Ontario. Couldn't be happier with this bike. The website here is fantastic. I love the DIY articles, what a great way to get to know your bike. Happy motoring.

You will have to post the obligatory photos of your ride, or we will be forced to mock you for days to come!!

Welcome to the club and the world of wings, I never wanted one, my daughters forced me to get one, that was 4 years ago, and I would not be without one now!! Great bikes.. This is also one of the best goldwing sites out there, so you made a smart move joining here!! :P

Welcome from the U.P.of Michigan and I understand how you would like to put on as many miles as you can. I just seems to me that the winters last longer and longer and the Wings sit longer and longer. But graduating up to the Wing like you did it will, once you learn how to handle it,serve you for many happy miles. But to gain some confidence with it, set up two road cones or anything that you can drive around. Set them up approx. 50 feet apart and do figure 8s around them at slower and slower speeds without putting your feet down, then move the cones closer together. Very simple exercise that works great to get you used to low speed handeling on both sides. Ride safe.
