New GoldWing where to buy in Canada?

Postby RoadDawg » Wed Dec 26, 2012 5:04 pm

I currently have a 2009 Wing, ABS, Navi, comfort package with only 47,000 KM on it with loads of extras. Runs perfect and still under warranty. However, I change my bikes every 3 years so will be selling it shortly and purchasing either a 2012 or 2013.

I live in Ottawa Canada and none of the dealers wish to dicker much on the selling price....I believe they make about $3000 per bike. I know they have to make a profit so I offered them $1000 over their cost...was I unreasonable in doing so?? Afterall, I would likely buy a new bike from them every 3 years.

Unfortunately, the new color selections in Canada suck big time...for 2012 all we get is red or blue (airbag), and for 2013 red (air bag) and white (non air bag). The offering in the USA is more extensive with two more colors I believe.

Anyhow....anyone in Canada know a good place to pick up a GoldWing at a reasonable price either in Ontario or Western Quebec?

Try the motorcycle show on Jan 4, 5,& 6 at the airport center. Look for Lindsy Cycle or Markham Outdoor Power sports.

With $4,000+ discounts off MSRP the rule rather than the exception, I think they make more than $3,000 selling near or at MSRP!

Apparently the $3000 margin is after any rebates or sale prices. Apparently the dealer is not penalized for any deals or incentives that Honda is giving and they still retain their margins. Considering that some auto dealers make only $500 on cars I think $3000 profit on a motorcycle is quite a bit, but what the heck do I know?? ;)

That's quite a number of "apparently's". :D
Where did you get your numbers from?

If a dealer is only making $500 gross profit per car, he'd better be moving quite a few per hour.

KBB:
2009 w/ABS trade in = $14,325
retail = $18,560
Looks like $4,235 profit..............

Hey Dawg;

North Bay Cycle has always been really good to deal with on new bikes, here in "North Bay", just 400 kms up the road from you. Your dealership in Ottawa is easier to deal with on used bikes. Our dealership is small enough that you will communicate either directly with the owner, or with one of the two sales persons. The owner is Jim LeCaplin and the sales person is Dave Masciolli. Both are up front and easy to talk to. Phone number is 705-472-4550. They sell lots of bikes here, but keep the staff to only three sales, two parts and several in the service department. I have found things to be unhappy with in the past, but never with a sale. Hope this helps you.

Pretty sure the discussion is new bikes, not theoretical used bikes.

Actual dealer costs, and actual selling prices?

....and markup is a LONG way from profit.
