I watch the races on SPEED channel every once in a while, amazing how fast those peeps go on city streets, even though the turns are stretched, imagine going 150 mph and then dropping the bike, ugh. I would love the opportunity to do something at my speed just to get the rush. Fastest I have been was 125 mph on a 700 Shadow, damn that thing wiggled, ran the bike up to a T-intersection, and off in to a desert, but what a rush.

Back in my "immortal" days I ran my VF1000R up to something above 150 (my buddy said he was at 140+ as I pulled away from him, but at those speeds who has time to look at the speedo?) All I can say is WHAT A RUSH followed immediately by WTF am I doing??????????? Bike was absolutely solid and felt like it still had more but I certainly didn't. I have since gotten older and wiser, I think. I shudder when I see some of the things some of my younger MC rider friends do on public roads - not that I didn't at that age - it is just that with advancing age comes perspective. I do still love to watch the TT though.

I agree. When I moved from the Shadow, I bought a Yamaha Venture (1982), I was traveling down a 2-lane freeway, looked down and noticed I was going 95, and I did not even realize it. I chalk that up to just getting used to the bike, but doing the 125 in the back hills of southern california, ya, that was crazy. Will not be doing that again.

Saw 130 on the speedo of my '06 wing 3 years ago. It felt like it had more to give but I was approcing traffic on I-75 here in Fl. and had to slow down. Just did it once and that was enough. It was as steady as a rock.

My speedometer only goes up to 80 MPH. So after that who knows how fast I can go.With the extra wheel kit I have installed,I don't even want to go any faster then 75 MPH. My speed days are long gone. I would rather take the back roads at 45 to 50 and enjoy the ride.
Thats me today!!! I have gone off the road and onto the gravel at 100MPH.I remember because, I looked down to see my speed, and the next thing I was on gravel. Not sure how I got back up on the road  Of coarse this was a very long time ago.

I just count my blessings at 73 that I can still ride period.
