Party,Party,Party, in the making, check in please

Postby twostrokes48 » Tue Feb 26, 2013 10:57 pm

OK since there has been threads about rides planned together, parties, meet/greet etc etc etc. An opportunity has come up to make it happen.
Since LittleBeaver is on the move again this summer, leaving San Antonio, I thought it would be really great to have a party and a ride in some of the best areas in the Texas Hill country.
So here is the sketch only of a plan...this is phase 1.
I will make my property available for anyone that rides/drives in early. I have stated dates of April 12-14. I have room for tent camping, RV's, and campers. I have a couple extra bedrooms, and floor space for airmattresses of about 10 or so. Closest motels are about 15 miles away and priced reasonable. Pick your poison. Actual planned activities will mostly be on Sat. 13th. Anyone coming in fri, we will find somethin to do....Those who wish to not leave until Sunday, a breakfast will be planned if wanted. You will be treated to a menu of what once was The Tex-Asian BBQ before we closed down a few years ago. It will be BYOB. Food cost will be totalled up and posted and a donation box set up.

What I would like would be for everyone to check in with remarks, a yes, no or maybe... and of course as many confirms as I can get by April 5th. It will be our happy sendoff for the Beve to his new location.

I really want to be there, but I am going to have to say that realistically I wont be there. If things fall together and a minor miracle happens I will be a surprize drop in. Sorry gang. 8-)
Ride safe, Todd

About the same for me but I'd probably need a major miracle.

I'd love nothing more than to hook up the camper to the F-250, load the Wing in back, and head to the Lone Star with the wife, especially for an opportunity to meet some of you guys FTF. She has Texas on her "bucket list" and so do I. Still, as has already been stated, it'll probably take Divine intervention for this to happen right now.

Have a diet coke or water......... .......Oh there goes that fool on his loud Victory down the street again....That thing is freakin loud...He rides down our street at 2 am just hammering on that throttle, I'm going to ask him a question one day...why are you so inconsiderate to others..Don't you understand that people work and get up early and don't want to be woken up at 2 am because of your stupid loud ass pipes...Why not just back off the throttle a bit, it won't be near as loud...geez..I must be getting older or something..OMG..

Ya, San Antonio is a long way from my place but then so is Ohio. Only about 150 miles difference using Google Maps.

It's on my list of places to go to but it will have to wait until we are both retired.

Well, it is nice to hear from all you folks in Canada....I understand your problem of getting here, especially in April. I think there might be some members a little closer say somewhere in Texas???

And, Beve, we were not doing Asian BBQ except for pork on a stick. The name "Tex-Asian was because we did Texas style BBQ as well as pulled pork. We also did some Filipino and Chinese dishes. So the Tex was the BBQ, the Asian the other....We did catering...did not have restaurant here in San Antonio, although we had a couple of different one while living in the philippines. That was until Mt. Penatubo blew its top and burried it all. Anyway, that was a different life.

If no one is interested in this.....will throw it on the back burner for now.

Yes, don't stop this on those of us that can not show....I have a feeling if this keeps going we can have it strategic in different places, and just take pics and vids to get everyone else to see what is going on. I think that is what is the best, getting to know all of you in some form.

When I first moved up to WA State, we had my GWTA friends come up from California. I had 10-15 tents out on the back yard (it is about a 1/4 to 1/3 acre grass on the waterway here) but we could not get everyone to go, of course. Can never provide for 100%.

So, pls take pics, etc., I will not be able to attend, but I may make tacos the same time you do just so I can feel the part.

LittleBeaver, sheeesh, you are making me feel bad now... All this free entertainment I could have had by not taking the time to get together while you have been down here in SA. My Loss...You know I do have a backup plan...IF NO ONE SHOWS UP, we can always grab a couple fishin poles and run over to the lake and do some fishin.

I couldn't make the trip either, and I'm gonna hate to miss the BBQ, Tacos, and great entertainment. I looked at google maps and it is a 1500 mile trip (one way) better than a three day trip for me, My wife can't ride for too long cause she had back surgery last year. I looked at a trip to WingAdmin's area, he's about four hours away. He does have Salt Fork State park a little ways further from him which would be about six hours from me, but for you San Antonio guys it's a 1400 mile trek, probably 21 hours. Man it sure would be nice to get together somehow, someway, sometime! The one man show alone would make it all worth it! But then again please don't cancel your guys get together on my account either, I'll be happy to watch you guys on a posted video.

Just a reminder to everyone......There is nothing wrong with trailering a bike...or just driving down in your cage.....This is a get together of goldwing riders. Doesn't mean everyone has to come on a bike. We get to know each other when we are NOT on the bikes...the ride will be nice, but the get together is the purpose.

You guys are cracking me up! This get together, if only two or three turn up, it sounds like it will still be a success. Of course, if it is too cold for you Northerners, you could come and try some real Southern Comforts - if it is not too far for you. I suppose some have not travelled further than the local store, and I have met people who have not been further than the boundaries of the city they live in - both in Oz and USA.

Have fun whatever happens.

Yeah, I been a bit outa my own home town, many times, for great distances. But then I was in the army, so I got to go round the world protectin' folks from their neighbors. I still love to travel, and it ain't about the destination, it is totally about the journey... because man was not meant to end up as a good lookin' corpse. He was meant to skid sideways into the grave, all beat up and wore out, yellin' "Hell, what a ride". Oh, that reminds me - I been to hell and back too. (Hell, Michigan, that is)

Party is still in the "go mode"..Will not consider canceling until about first week of april. It doesn't take bout a couple and it will be on for sure. LittleBeaver will just get more stage time, that's all. And for LittleBeaver, I didn't realize your license expired. Is it that much for just a fresh water ticket?? Calavaras is just 5 min from my house..Granted not as much fun as going to the coast but I agree a one time run, $65 bucks is a little steep. At least that is one of my disabled vet benefits, free license for fishin and hunting with ALL tags provided. Too bad the license is the cheapest part of hunting anymore. You gotta lots of money or lots of connections for hunting anymore. Of course I can hunt rabbit and doves at my place. That's about it. Guess if I wanted to, I could turn loose a couple of pigs, and do a hog hunt. I just couldn't afford to miss. What would I have to BBQ?? Just lost a boar yesterday. two fo them got into a fight, one lost. He was injured pretty bad on hind leg. I moved him to another pen but he freaked out during the move, almost like a seizure. After the move he just laid down as could hardly walk on that hind leg. I was planning on putting him in the freezer over the weekend but he died during the night. Guess he was injured worse than I thought. So lost abut 100lbs of good pork. Shame I was sick, otherwise I would have just shot him after the fight and put him in the freezer. I just didn't feel up to the job and thought he could wait a couple days in the pen by himself.
So, the SOB the took him down is goin down REAL SOON...Hmmm..fresh home cured bacon and ham, slow smoked ribs, lotta pulled pork, great chops, and lots and lots of homemade sausage will soon be in the freezer. I'm also gonna get on Craigs lists and see if someone who has a deer in the freezer wants to combine together lb for lb the porkfatty meat and deer for some great deer sausage. It is best when about 50/50. When it is combined and finished, we will split it up between us.
Enough babble about stuff that has nothing to do with the party except maybe some of the food that will be available.
