I called it quits

Postby Pam » Fri Mar 01, 2013 4:15 pm

Yesterday was my last day on the job. After 31 years I called it quits and have retired. Going to have to get use to not having a schedule. I still have to go back and turn in my kit and tools but that is no big deal. Thought the day would never come so many years ago :D

I hope you have the money and health to enjoy the retirement.. I dream of the day I can retire, but as I am not even 50 yet, it's a long way off. I hope you have a great time and remember to stay active..

I dunno if the "feels good" feeling has begun for you, but it sure did for me...... Ahhhhh, that old stress and pressure just melted away.... :D

Congratulations. Pretty soon you will be so busy doing other things you won't know how you had the time to work. But that's ok, you need to stay active. If not then the only recreation will be guessing what is in the fridge. Enjoy

It's the greatest feeling not having someone else telling you what to do with your time. That was the first thing I noticed. I'm in charge now. Funny thing is it seems I have less time now than when I worked.

Where in Canada are you?

Along with Thrash, I am not of "retirement" age, but have to admit, me being unemployed....which is sort of a trial run, I am enjoying the extra time. Like others said, stay busy. My dad retired from the police dept and then drove a turkey truck for an additional 10-15 years, now he is just "puddering" as he calls it (basically babysitting 10 acres on top of a hill, yes there is yardwork).

Congrats congrats!! Enjoy and get on that bike.

Congrads on the retirement....Of course you may find like some of us did that the "honey do" list will be much longer than your bosses lists...There will be no such thing as getting cought up. Just learn to say "add it to the list" then go out and get on the bike as the list will be there tomorrow. Go see the country....and enjoy.

Congratulations, you will love it! I hope your time is spent riding and very little time visiting doctors. The only drawback to retirement is you don't get anymore days off or vacations.

Yeah, but you get six Saturdays and one Sunday every week. Enjoy yourself.

Hey congrads on your retirement. I've haven't worked since Jan 6th trying to take all my vacation before my official retirement date of March 21, 2013. 33 years with the same company, working rotating shifts and off days is enough... Enjoying mine so far.. :D

It's good to see you have a few projects lined up, but you can't just jump into those things you know, it takes time and planning for any project to work out. Just be sure to drop us a line so we know you are still working on them.GOOOOOO SLOOOOOW.Life isshort enough, enjoy it while you can.
