Admitting it in public is the first step. :)

I had an explosion happen in the back of an airplane I was flying once, an unbelievably loud bang, at night, in the pitch dark, by myself. I got that thing on the ground so fast, thinking of all the major components that could have just failed and were about to cause me to plummet from the sky. I got on the ground and went back to discover the interior of the plane covered in potato chips from the bag that had exploded from low ambient air pressure.

Well, that's better then a lot of other things, even tho it probably made you feel a little foolish at the time. I can imagine your heart skipping a few beats.

Way back in the day a pilot of an F-4 after a sorte wrote: Knocking sound near #2 intake. Sounds like little man with a hammer.

The crewchief found a loose panel and corrected it. He signed the 741A paperwork: Found little man and took away hammer. Counceled, he promised never to do it again.

My gl1100 had a very loud and annoying tappet noise from the right side..
When replacing the cam, rocker arm and all the adjustments didn't reduce the tapping....
I realized the chrome add on fuel pump cover was bolted direct to the intake....I removed that annoying 'bell' and the tappet noise returned to normal.

I also hear this little squeaking noise in the headset when going around tight corners a bit too fast...............It's my wife........

I'll keep that in mind. :)
Usually the noise increases in intensity and duration the further I lean the bike into the turns.

After I straighten up the squeaking stops for a few seconds only to be replaced by some unintelligible voice....I think I'm getting yelled at.....not sure,so I'm gonna have to try it again a few times to figure it out...

The potato chips reminded me of the time I was scuba diving and I had ate the chips that afternoon.
I was down about 15 feet and the noise was nothing, it's what happened after the noise.
The gas came up into my mask  Never want to do that again

You know, it's funny how we get off track. Sorry lil' Beav, being a mechanic all my life I have seen some amazing things upon opening up an engine. Found tools left by past mechanics, extra parts or parts installed wrong. Such as a setof disc brake pads put on upside down. Until I seen that I had thought it could not be done. I wish that I had kept a log of all the odd things I have ran into.

I have two or three various nice Snap-On tools conveniently left in my car after dealer servicing. I managed to actually break one of them, I should hunt down a Snap-On truck to get it replaced. :)

I've noticed that the intermittent knocking is usually the son in law , the daughter just opens the door an walks in .
