Is anyone else going crazy?

Postby tflanders » Wed Mar 20, 2013 10:21 am

I cant take it anymore! I want to ride my Goldwing! Today is the coldest spring day since 1965 in the state of Minnesota! We still have two feet of snow on the ground! Last year (before I owned my bike) it was 80 degrees on this date! I looked at the 10 day outlook and we will get up to 40 degrees on two of those days. There arent even any 50s in the forecast yet! I am going crazy here. All I can do is read, read, read about Goldwings. I dont know how much more of this I can take!

Me too- it is normally much warmer in the UK at this time, North of where I live they have had snow storms, ice and the like for weeks now on and off, and we have been luckier, although it is barely above freezing most days- we get a couple of slightly warmer days, then the freeze comes again. Mind with my leaking coolant problem, I may not be ready for when it warms up properly.
Are we having fun yet?

I feel ya tflanders. I didn't have my bike this time last year either. Bought it in July. I've been chopping at the bit waiting to ride. I live in Michigan and its still too cold. I have a detached 2 car garage and its too cold to even go out and install all of the goodies I bought over the winter. I've read every forum and seen every goldwing video there is and it's killing me not being able to ride. That groundhog in PA need to get a new job because he sucks at predicting.

Yeah, where you are - about 340 of them every year. I used to live in Socorro, New Mex, about 135 miles from El Paso. Used to hop on the bike and run down there for weekend parties at a biker bar I knew. If ya got too drunk, they would wheel yer bike inside the ten foot fences and lock up the gates, and you could sleep on a pool table, or go home with the owner. I never got "too drunk" but I did spend a few nights at the owners home. The sunshine was great, but the thunderstorms were horrendous... :ugeek:

That does suck WA... The only problem down here is the stinkin' wind! We have 30-50 MPH gusts all the time. Makes it difficult to ride sometimes. Our Battalion actually sends out Amber and Black Alerts to all the bikers according to the wind conditions.

The weather here in the Keystone hasn't been any better than anywhere else. It plain sucks. I have a car outside that I'm replacing the intake manifold gasket and can't finish it because it is so miserable. It's half apart.

Socorro, NM. Been there. Took a counter terrorism class at New Mexico Tech. Loved blowing stuff up and they do it well down there. Fond memories of nearly having to rescue some classmates from a bar in the square in town that they shouldn't have gone into in the first place. Best laugh of the trip. The steaks at the Thunderbird were supposed to be all that we kept hearing. We were not impressed.

I'd settle for thunderstorms at this point. At least it would be warmer.

I have kept out of this long enough. You poor miserable riders - if it isnt too hot, it is too cold, too wet, too icy, too windy, too snowy, and then you have floods and tornadoes and hurricanes.

Most of you may live in the beautiful country (north America), but some of us live in the Lucky Country. Today is 24C (about 76F), with 23% humidity, light breezes, and clear sky - another wonderful day in Oz. Keep grizzling about your weather, as it keeps me believing how good it is here!

I think more than else it's what you're used to. Just the other day I was riding down the road, temps in the 70's and I pass a lady walking down the sidewalk wearing a jacket, hood pulled up and cinched around her face. I'm thinking she had to be from southern Florida or similar.

I am with ya brother. I havent owned a motorcycle in over four years. Last fall I purchased two new yamaha raptors, I havent ridden yet. I purchased this 1983 gl1100 a month ago and have been trying to stay sane by working on it. I also added a new app to my phone with a 10 day forcast. At this point I will take anything over 45 degrees as a good riding day.

It was around 80 last year in New Hampshire too. Not this year. Lucky to get above mid-40's. I want to get the bike ready to go but holding off until it gets nicer. I get antsy every time I pass by it in the garage.

Very much going crazy! We've been about 15 degrees below normal. Forecast say it should be in the 50's next weekend. Planning on putting the battery back in the bike and at least get it started and hopefully take it out for a little ride.

Happy to say that the mighty Northwest states will be drying out over the next 2-3 days, then rain Wed/Thur and dry again possible after that.

Hmmmm, could see a road or two this week.
