Aaaaaaaaaa....WHERE IS SPRING???????

Postby harkgold » Wed Apr 24, 2013 2:51 pm

Here it is approaching the end of April and I still haven't even uncovered the Wing yet, let alone ride it.
Iowa has had one of the crummiest springs that I can recall. Our night time lows are still plummeting into the 20's with daytime highs hardly doubling that.
Oh.....on ocassion it will maybe reach into the 50's or bump 60 but those days are just a teaser. As soon as you see one of these days and think I will uncover and prep the bike for the season I quickly loose interest because that nice day will be forecasted to be followed by another four or five days of rain and cold.
I'm beginning to think it will be June before I'm back on the road.
I have seen a few die-hards out there in the rain and cold on their bikes but that's not my definition of fun.

lol, the weather is finally coming your way. The Northwest is now at 70 degrees (can you say "Ya Bra!!!"). I was in shorts this a.m., and 35 outside (brrrrrrrrrrrr). Once it warmed up (about 10:30), I was outside working on the garden, turning over the compost bin, playing with the dogs....wearing a tank top (yea, go fig!!).

Spring is coming, just hold tight!!!

I rode up to Canada and back last weekend, in rain and cold, with all my heated gear on full blast. Those two rides are the full extent of my riding so far this year. It's been raining since. Today, while driving home from work, it started snowing again. What has happened to Spring?!?!?

I feel real bad for you guys and gals in the frozen EAST :o , I am begining to sound like REDIAL here now. Up here in the western most part of Canada its perfect riding weather, the cool morning air adds a little extra snap to the throttle, the warm sun is shining on my face and by noon its pushing into the 70's, no heated gear needed for todays 600km ride( thats 400 miles for you non- metric types) . I have been out since the 29th of January and I have already had to do my first oil change this season. Hang in there guys your turn is coming..................eventually  I feel for you, really 8-)
Ride safe, Todd

7:30 AM here in Iowa and 39 degrees. Sunny and upper 50's for the high.
I don't like to ride below 55 degrees, so a slow easy cruise around town might be in the plans today.
Good news though..........it's supposed to be in the 70''s here this weekend.

Yaaa.....we'll see how long that lasts..........

I dont have to add my comments - it has all been said before! (As he puts on another pair of shorts and t-shirt to puddle around at home.) We have to also do some chores around the house, otherwise Mama wont let me out to play - you know how it is!

Dial, I was able to live your life a wee bit this weekend, shorts and Tshirt....lotsa yardwork, and I was able to get the bike out on Friday to do errands.....never thought errands would take 70 miles, lol.

Hope everyone else was able to get out! We are currently raining in the NorthWest States, but should dry up by Wednesday.

Since we have had spring here for the past few months, I managed to get in about 200 miles on Sat. With my surgery postponed until the end of May, I'll be able to get in some additional riding before it gets too hot. Too bad it pushes back my longer trip though. It will be a hot one this year for my month long ride.

I will ride at 48 degrees, if it is going to warm up at all. The whole ride can be 50 to 52 and I am good to go. That is what I aim for. I had it three days last week, so I rode all three days. Chores can go hang.

I debated whether or not I was going to ride home to Kansas last week because usually at this time of year it's a no brainer to ride the bike...But with the low in KC at 32 I said screw it...I have not bought my heated gear yet...We are getting a lot of much needed rain here in Texas now..Thank goodness for that.. Everything is green again.. :D

I rode my dual sport on Sunday and got the Goldwing out of hibernation last week but there is still to much crap on the road to safely ride. Yesterday we got another 3 inches of snow!!! Frick I hate this country.

As far as temperatures go I started out on the dual sport at 34F. The day eventually got to 50F and windy. It was a little cool but doesn't bother me. Used my grip heaters but have no other heated gear. As long as it's not a full day at that temp I have no problem starting out in it. Could go colder on the Wing. The dual sport doesn't offer much protection.

Weather all across our country or world ? Whats happening!!! I have followed something our government
has been doing for years since being a amateur radio operator it involves radio waves. The program was not heard from for years, but lately it is exposed once again by people like you and me.

The program is called Haarp... http://wn.com/what_is_haarp! Take the time, read it, see what you think! It has been used to control weather, even in war time...

One day we have 60ties, next day here we have 40ties.Got out once my self to go for a cool ride.

Amazing all the differences in weather, to the point of receiving a foot of snow....IN MAY!!! This is spring, I will be riding tomorrow for errands (told the wife she better give me a list of small items, I AM TAKING THE BIKE). I will make my point again tomorrow when I roll it out of the garage for warm up.

I wish you all the best weather for this weekend!!!!

Spring is here at last! At least in the UK - finally

I just got back from my first, admittedly very short ride of the year. Took the 'wing in glorious sunshine, to Sandal Castle. The castle was the seat of power of Richard, Duke of York and he met his demise there in 1460 during the Battle of Wakefield. Today, we still use, “Richard of York gave battle in vain” as a mnemonic to remember the colours of the rainbow. It is also the source of the nursery rhyme, “The grand old Duke of York..”

Sadly, the castle was besieged in the Civil War and was left a ruin but in its day it must have been a magnificent sight.

Last week it was cold, just 5C, grey and dreadful. What a difference a week makes, the swallows are here, insects abound....let’s hope we actually get a summer this year.
The game's afoot;
Follow your spirit: and upon this charge,
Cry — God for Harry! England and Saint George!

I was out this a.m., and put 60 miles on it doing errands around town. Now I am really looking fwd to my coast ride this weekend. Found out that there is a parage happening in a town about 10 miles up from where I am at so the highway will be filled with 2 and 3 wheelers heading there.

Just hold on those of you that are still being snowed upon....it will be your turn!!!
