I have a 2004 GL1800 trike without an owners manual. What oil should be used and how much?

From the manual:

API Service Classification SG or higher except oils labeled as energy conserving on the circular API service label, SAE 10W-40, JASO T 903 standard MA, Pro Honda GN4 or HP4 (without molybdenum additives) 4-stroke oil or equivalent, 3.9 US quarts.

I'll never understand why people don't include the owners manual when they sell vehicles.
