What was your best investment?

Postby tflanders » Wed Jun 12, 2013 6:43 am

I am curious as to what everyones single best investment was for their Goldwing? So far I think it is my Nolan N104 helmet. I have some stuff I want to put on my bike soon, like a new seat. I think I am going with Ultimate. By the time I get everything on the seat it is almost $1300. I sure hope it is worth the money!

My wife.

Without her I wouldn't even have a GoldWing.
"It´s a friggen motorcycle, it´s not supposed to be comfortable, quiet or safe. The wind noise is supposed to hurt your ears, the seat should be hard and riding it should make you s**t your pants every now and then. "

Traxxion suspension package (front and back). It gives my wing a lot more ground clearance and it handles much better than stock. Coming from an R1, it makes the wing feel a lot less like a grandads bike!! Really glad I spent the money. :D

WOW...Tough question...
Over the years I have added lots of "amenities" to the Wing for better riding experience...
Diamond Custom seat is near the top...Mick-o-pegs ... Tulsa Tall windshield...
GPS with Bluetooth so I can take and make phone calls..
Adding comfort to the long hauls seems to be key to me if you survey this list...
A GOOD seat is paramount to riding long days in my opinion.
Postings are my opinions based on experience and acquired knowledge.

I think the best investment will be having the bike triked just recently- have not got it back yet, but it is going to open up my Goldwing enjoyment again- then I think I will need to get a new seat!
Are we having fun yet?

Absolutely no doubt in my mind on this one.A good seat with a built-in backrest.
If I'da known it would last this long,I'da taken better care of it.

No doubt whatsoever, it was the Ultimate seat I put on it. It took me from a 300KM rider to a 1000KM rider, with still some room for more if I want. Now it is my choice if I ride a little or I ride a lot. It was a great feat of will to ride from my home to my sons home, which was just over 400 kms one way, and with the Ultimate seat, I can go down and back the same day. I ride 250 kms for coffee again, which seemed a bit foolish before, with the discomfort I would experience coming back home. Now, it is a normal thing again. :D

Oh - I got to ride an F6B (Flat Six Bagger) on Wednesday, just past.

My short review is here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=17505
It ain't about the destination - it's all about the journey
