gas and vapors at vent tube

Postby furnacedoc » Sun Jul 07, 2013 11:50 am

Hello, I went for a ride 150 miles and when I returned and was cleaning up my wing I noticed that one of the 3 vent tubes at the bottom of the bike was wet with gas and fumes, what do I need to check? or do ?.Thanks,

There is one tube that drains fuel from the top of the tank , it is an overflow line. If your tank is near full and engine hot the fuel expands causing a little fuel and fumes to drop from the line. But if you have had trouble starting the engine when it's hot, you have a carb that is acting up. First you have to find the one that is causing the problem, then find out why. If you had them apart before or someone else did it for you let them know about it so it can be repaired properly.
