BEWARE changing tires with TPMS

Want to warn people that have a Gold Wing with factory TPMS about the trouble you can have when changing tires. If you take your bike to a mechanic that is not a Certified Honda Mechanic, you could end up with a disaster like I have.

Short and sweet expiation:
A tire change cost me $900.05 (not counting the tires) because of the damage caused by a mechanic that did not know how to work with wheels that have TPMS. The TPMS sensors are plastic and on the inside of the rim. They are part of the tire valve stem. They can and most likely will be broken when the bead breaker hits them. They cost around $200.00 each and require the TPMS system to be reset to the sensors. The mechanic also gouged the rear wheel rim and scratched the front wheel rim.

This was done by a friend, now he is on the very top of my S**t list.

My Certified Honda mechanic told me that when they first come out with the factory TPMS, many mechanics broke the sensors. Honda sent out a service bulletin addressing this problem.

The problem isn't just on bikes either. Car tires can be just as pricey. I'm glad I don't have those things on any vehicle.
