Wow, welcome to Mississippi

Postby littlebeaver » Wed Jul 31, 2013 12:17 am

So, as some of you know we moved from San Antonio to MS. I parked my bike out front a few times because that's what I do, most people that go by can see it from the road. well my daughter and I washed the car out in the driveway today and I looked up and here comes a beautiful red 83 Goldwing up our long driveway, this guy down the road thought he would stop by and check me out I guess, he saw my 1100 from the road and just had to see what I'm about..., he rode one of the nicest 83's I ever did see man,,,I should have ran in and got my camera, I showed him my bike and he loved the alt. conversion on it...I took off the lower fairing cover so he could get a good look at it, he wants one now.. Told him I have not had one issue with it so far... His bike was dressed to kill man...really nice 83...He offered to go ride sometime...He asked if I mind riding with groups, I said I really rather not but am fine with only one dude... I don't know I'm just weird that way.. I enjoy solo or just one other rider with me... Is that weird?

No you're not weird Beav. Unless we both are. I am the same way. I will ride with a group once in a while but I don't really enjoy it. There is always some who want to ride to the extreme and those who want to ride and take in the scenery. I am one of the scenery riders so I like to ride tail gunner. Most of the time I ride with the wife but by ourselves. Glad you are liking Mississippi!

I don't ride with a group either.
I do understand why the Harley riders do tho.Its the guy at the rear that has to pick up the parts that fall off the other bikes or the safety in numbers thing.
Not sure....for me its more like when I was young and Dad would take us out for the Sunday drive.
It wasn't about the car,it was the trip.
I trust my bike will always take me home.

Having a Goldwing is like having a dog - you meet people you otherwise would't meet.

Next week we are leaving on a group ride with our local GWRRA Chapter. We are headed to the Oregon coast, then north through Washington, over tot he Coulee Dam then north to BC and eventually home. Last count there are 33 people so probably about 20 bikes. We've done this before with this group and enjoyed it then but now I'm not so sure. It's been a few years and the wife and I have put on too many miles alone to want to bother with a bunch of others. So we'll see how this goes. We may be breaking away from the group riding and seeing them in the evening. Probably be the last time we do this.

seeing that you are new in town go meet up with the group your neighbor rides with , might be nice to have others to ride with ( one or two of them at a time )
