I know exactly what he's going through. Been there, done that, when I was much younger. I should have kept that old bike and got rid of the old lady...which eventually happened anyways! :D :D

I understand. I'm single and live with two cats. Two large aquariums. I build motorcycles inside my kitchen. Weld burns on the kitchen floor. I grill my dinner seven days a week. If I decide to get up and work on my bike in the middle of the night in my underwear, that's exactly what I do. Neither the cats nor the fish have ever said a word about it.

Been there, done that. Past life, thank God. The wife now is a different animal. I bought the GL without her and she never uttered a word and no silent reprocussions. She went with me and helped pick out the Harley. I think I'll keep her.

Yea, been there too...He is getting rid of the wrong ride....
I'm on my 4th wife and my have bought 7 wings.. still have 4. of the other three...one stolen, one sold, one totaled...have been happy with all I have bought... Have not been happy with all I married. Now if I could just get rid of number 4.....just kidding...but do need a long vacation away by myself just to find out if I am really as dumb, and forgetful as I am told I am so often. Then I could make an informed decision. And I realize I am a slow learner and tend to make the same mistake over and over and over. I do fit the description of crazy, being that I do the same thing over and over, expecting a different outcome.

I quit riding bikes for about 22 years but that was a choice I made myself. I was in a really bad wreck in 78 and I decided to stay away from them at least long enough to get the family raised. Made a promise and I kept it. Now the kid's grown and I'm single. I have two nice little cars but they remain parked for the majority of the time. I ride either the Honda or the BSA unless I've got a good reason to drive a car instead. Really bad weather, really bad traffic or the cars just haven't been run lately.

Anybody be tellin' me how dumb I is - be long gone. I sent my wife away on a long vacation for herself, and when she came back, she was much easier to put up with. The lack of patience is not hers - it is mine. Maybe she aughta be kickin me to the curb -

But twostrokes, I have done the long vacations by myself - in fact, one was thirteen months long. It always seems to make the little stuff that is aggravating one, go away.

What I find funny is that spouse #1 said the same stuff about me, twostroke. I forgot everything according to her and had the equivalent IQ of a box of rocks. Now, it's a totally different animal with spouse #2 and I never get accused of forgetfulness and she considers me pretty darn smart. So, it stands to reason that either one of two things was happening.

1) I forgot everything because I subconsciously, or consciously, wanted to. What does that tell you? Dumb was a spinoff.
2) I didn't forget anything and she was full of crapola. Smart was in the eye of the beholder.
Either answer is acceptable. Both are probably correct.

It's amazing to me how many guys I meet over time and have similar stories. Spouse #1 was little more than a mistake, unless you wish to be kind and call it an error in judgment. Spouse #2 ends up being the one that should have been #1. I do know one guy I used to work with that went through 6 and never got it right. I have my own theories about him.

So, let's see.......spouse #2 went with me when I bought the Kawasaki which is my son's bike currently. She let me buy the Wing without her or her advance consent with no issues developing. She helped me pick out my Harley. She just let me get a 1994 Columbia/H-D golf cart to refurbish and helped me pick out a parts cart I am picking up today from a local dealer (so far have only $100 invested in both and might have another $100 invested by the time I'm done restoring it). You can do the math here.

Sometimes one needs some time to himself. I've got a lot on my plate right now, so I can understand. I don't feel that I need time to myself. I just need my plate emptied for a change.

Guess I struck it lucky, Still on my first wife, we have been married 16 years and I have 16 bikes!! Mostly cheap dirt bikes (for the kids, etc).. I will have to tell her that we need a 17th bike next year to go with our 17th wedding anniversary!! She has recently allowed me to purchase 3 rifles, so I may be forced to accept that those 3 rifles equals another bike!! Still think I will keep the wife for a few more years!!

This is my first (and only) wife, 24 years, and she is comfortable with me having a bike since we dated....so no issues here. In fact, she is very ok with it, said I could get a new bike (go fig, like I have the $$ falling out my....) but love her just the same ;) Good one to keep.

on 2nd wife and first 'wing. brought it up from florida to MASSACHUSETTS last year without telling her. since my ride then was a 1982 GS850, she was'nt to keen on long rides (dont know why, i would ride it till reserve).so i upgraded to my '93 se. now all i hear is ,"where are we going this weekend"!!! what a great investment.
 I know people say we spend too much money on our rides, but I can't hear them when I'm 1000 miles away!

I rode a Harley almost all my life (for 47 years of it anyway). Due to tendonitis being bothered by the vibration, I called my bride of 44 years and asked her if she thought it would be okay if I bought a Goldwing. She laughed at me and hung up the phone, so I went out and bought a brand spankin' new GL1800. She made me sell our 31 foot Airstream trailer and buy a 34' Dutchmen toy hauler, so when we went for long vacations in the trailer we could take the bike. Not much Harley loyalty in her pocket, I had a pretty serious accident many years ago, about 600 miles from home. I called her up to bring my truck to pick up the bike and me. At that time, I offered to sell my bikes and stop riding (I was in pretty rough shape). She wouldn't hear it. She said my bikes were as much a part of me as life, and I had to keep on riding. Besides, she pointed out - I had not yet used my life insurance....... But she was right. I am afraid I will be a biker all my life. I can just see myself at 112 years old, trying to throw my leg over a motorcycle... Hawwwwwww, har, har, har, har, snork, wheeze.....

The mind boggles! The vision of this occurring is just too much. I have a lesser ambition in life, to be shot by a jealous husband at 98 - just because I dont think I am cut out to be 100+. But, when I come back in the next life, .....
