Hello from Kansas

Postby T=Trouble » Sun Aug 11, 2013 10:53 am

When I bought my new bike (1993 Goldwing Aspencade 1500), I honestly did not know which side of the bay in the garage it was going to end up being parked on (mine or my husband's side). Before I went to look at the bike, hubby had told me that if it checked out mechanically to buy it because even if it did not work for me, he wanted it. Before I actually had a chance to ride it yesterday, and during the long rainy weather we just endured, at one point I had actually decided to just go ahead and pass it on to my husband as I knew it would be a great bike for him (and an upgrade even for him) and I really kept thinking it was just TOO big for me. I had even told him that I was passing it on to him, but he would not hear of it. He wanted me to try it out first before making the decision as he insisted that for the long rides we plan to do, I would need a bike like it and he could always find another one. Well, I finally got to ride it yesterday and before I even got 2 blocks down the road I was feeling quite comfortable with it and 189-miles later, there was no way I am passing it on. When I told my husband the verdict, he loved that I was hooked on it (and that he was right to boot). So - - - if anyone knows anyone that is looking for a bike (especially one that would be a great starter bike) I have a 2007 Harley Davidson Sportster 883L with around 23,000 miles on it that has been upgraded with hard leather covered lockable saddlebags, windshield, upgraded LED headlight, upgraded taillight (has all kinds of pulsing and flashing settings), low-voltage battery charger (plug in to wall socket for those times like in winter when it has to sit for longer periods to keep the battery from going low), and a set of hippo hands (for cold weather rides). Asking $6000 for it. In the meantime - my husband, who has a 1983 Goldwing Interstate 1100, has also led me to this site as it has been a great source of info for him.

You go T-Girl, have fun. We in the Deep South know what you have been through, but my wife will not ride alone, even on the 250.

Welcome to the forum. I'm always amazed at the women who ride 1500s. Is your husband a member here? If so who is he?

Hello T girl and welcome to the website from the U P of Michigan. I am glad to hear that you are taking the handlebars yourself. Too many women are scared of taking the reins but once they do they find that the freedom is even better then from the tailgunner position. Ride safe.

I just posted on Sling's post, ok, now I got the connection (takes a little time, lol). yes, yes, addicting little hobby we all have. I was talking to a guy in town and he had a 1500 vulcan (one of my previous rides) and he wished he still rode a GW....something about it that just makes the ride that much more better. Now if I can get 70 mpg instead of the 32 I get now, lol.

Keep posting, we like the activity, fur sure, fur sure.
