Paint

Postby gnarlyroad » Sun Apr 25, 2010 11:19 am

So I found the paint codes. No one cares, they want a chip of the original paint( long gone). Anyone know where I might be able to find a paint dealer who can make up the original colour?

Your paint will fade with time, so the original paint code probably still won't match!! Can't you visit a automotive paint shop and have them mix up a small amount of paint?

Although they only list back that far, if you contact them directly they will be more than glad to help you out. There has been others that are on other forums that have gotten paint for thier 78's. They are really worth the phone call. :) :) :)

Oh Ok I didn't know that . I might call them a call Good to know :? I have a paint suppiler locally that have a computerised system that they some how pull the pigmentation from a body part (side cover or tank) and can match it to compensate for fade and what ever . Put it in a rattle can and all .
Got a can for my car a few months ago and it was amazing how it came out. ;)

We have a locally owned auto parts house by the name of Lordco and I took the codes in for a 1997 gl1500 SE and withing an hour, I had 1 ltr each of base & clear, hardner & 4ltrs of reducer. mSo if your parts person says they can't do it go somewhere else. Even MAACO can mix the color from the code.
