I was dirt bike riding with my daughter last weekend and she broke her big toe (Hit a tree stump with her foot) so no riding for a few weeks until it heals.. A new gun shop just opened up and it's my birthday next week, so will probably go and see if there is a gift I want to get myself at the new shop!! Want an AR30 for our 1000yrd range, but don't have the cash for one at the moment!! :( Otherwise just pottering around the house and service the bikes..

The Snap On tool OCC bike is in town along with Snap On's dragster. Gonna go check these bad boys out with the Family. And take a Wing ride up to a small town that is having a flea market. Cook out on Sunday at the kids house and a couple cocktails Sunday night and it will be Monday again!

I am off the first part of next week so am headed to the Keys. Key West is about 7-8 hours away so why not. I might be 68 but still admire the scenery.

And the years go fast too..... It's my birthday this weekend also; (68). There may be a ride in the making for Sunday. Tomorrow I have to change the oil, filter and the antifreeze and maybe replace the final drive oil while I am at it. Got to plan a trip to finish wearing out the POS rear tire, so I can go get a new one before winter. May get a spare wheel if I can find a good one at a reasonable price to make the job a little faster.

Yes, TY TY Sling...my lil bro is in Afghanistan now, should be home (TN) in Sept/Oct, then he gets rerouted to another base (this is like his 5th or 6th one).

For me this weekend? Go fig, the NW lady did not let us down, it poured here at the mountain last night and this a.m. I was lucky enough to take the bike to work yesterday (140 mile round trip) and thoroughly enjoyed the ride. Today is "Replace the weedeater" day, so my boy and I are taking a cage ride to town to go shopping. Wife is leaving for Long Beach WA for the weekend, working, and the kite festival is there also for anyone that is looking for something to do here.

Did a Patriot Guard mission on Saturday, all day, very hot, high humidity. Lost my cell phone on the way home. Sunday, sending emails to everyone to ask them to text me their cell phone numbers. Also did some work on the basement getting ready for the pellet stove. Still hot and humid, seen 88 degrees and 80% humidity. That's sticky. I hope everyone had a great weekend.

Im a little late but thats normal for me...... ;) I have been getting caught up on my honey-do list. This weekend it was rebuilding the front fence. I figure that I had better do some work around here before I hit the road again, this time for only about 5 or 6 days. I leave next Saturday morning, going to southern Alberta. While I am there I will stop in and see a forum member (wingit11) in Lethbridge. 8-)

My wife and I have a litter of Basenji pups that are 9 weeks old. They are just getting to the really mobile stage, but I have people in Ohio, Arizona, and Hawaii very keen to see photos of them. So, more or less, the whole weekend was spent taking stills and videos of the pups, together, singly, and with mother showing them the Basenji 500 through the garden. It was fun while it lasted, and then their batteries would run flat, and they would collapse into a heap, have a sleep, and then start moving again. I really like my Basenjis. I have appended a photo of myself with two Bs (these two are 2 years old), last summer (winter to you Northerners). The male is a tricolour, and the female is a brindle perched on the back of a soft seat.

Re: I just have to know?

I spent the entire weekend (and I mean all day, every day) working on my wife's PC800. It's been sitting there looking rather forlorn in the garage, still all taken apart, and she wants it to ride next weekend. So that meant I had to finish up the electrical work and start putting the body back on it. However, it seemed like every body panel I went to install, I found cracks (it IS 24 years old), so I spent a great deal of time repairing and reinforcing cracked body panels, to keep them from outright breaking.

I got the bike together enough (still a bunch of body panels missing, but enough) to give it a test ride. I found two problems - the clutch isn't releasing correctly. I flushed the clutch and replaced the clutch line with a stainless braided line over the winter.

This problem was not happening when the bike was last running. The clutch engages near the end of the lever travel. As you ride the bike and shift up and down, the friction point moves farther and farther out on the lever, until the clutch starts slipping from any kind of acceleration at all when the lever is full out.

When I stop the bike and crack the bleeder, fluid squirts out as if the lever was squeezed (which it is not). When this happens, clutch operation returns to normal (albeit near the end of the lever travel), until you start riding it again.

I suspected the return port in the master cylinder was clogged, so I opened it up, siphoned out the fluid and cleaned the return port - but it did not seem clogged (I've had a clogged one before, on my 82 GL1100, so I know what it feels like). Refilled, bled, test rode - and it's still happening.

So I've ordered a clutch master cylinder rebuild kit for it, hopefully that will take care of things.

The other problem is a fuel starvation issue. It starts and runs great, I can ride it all around. However, a few minutes later it dies. Starting it up, it comes right back to life. I'm working on this one now.

But I'm very pleased to report that the new handlebars I built and the suspension geometry changes I made work quite well together, and the bike is very rideable. Once I get all the bugs worked out, I think it's going to be a great bike!

Sounds like you will have a nice bike when you get done. It never fails, you go to fix on problem and find three more. But better to find it before the panels are back on and the better half starts looking at you funny. Good luck.

Well shoot, I have an issue with my AC unit in Kansas City, the evaporator coil seems to be freezing up, I had a service guy come out and put in more Freon after it got thawed out, and it seemed to work for two days then it stopped cooling again, the only way I could see to inspect the coil itself was to remove the stack in front of the unit and remove the face side of the duct work enough to look in at the coil well the backside looks clean like new but I think its the inside that catches the crud the filter doesn't get, so I removed the triangle shaped cover to get a look inside,,,my goodness it looked clean too like new,,I wasn't too surprised though because we always keep a clean filter on the unit,,,Hummm I also looked for any sign of oil from a freon leak, I saw nothing...So I buttoned it up and went outside to clean the units grids with a water hose from the inside out as I saw a guy do on youtube...I crossed my fingers and hoped that the unit would cool better now. nope ..Now they charged me for 3 lb's of Freon so with the service call and the checking of stuff it was $300.00 so I was happy to pay it.. So now what do I do... Call them back? Pay them again? I can see what needs to be done, but I can't do it, I 'm not trained in this field and I don't have the gauges and freon.. I guess we should Add more Freon and look for leaks... Probably replace the evaporator coil as it most likely has a leak I can't see....Fudge...I don't wanta new unit just for a part like that...The heater still works fine..So you guys know what I've been doing.. Sweating it out... Money is tight and when it rains it pours..

Don't think they use Freon anymore........ The AC guy that came out should have done a leak test before he added any more refrigerant. Call him back and tell him what happened and ask him if he checked for leaks.. Don't tell him you tore things apart..... That will give him a good excuse not to come back and find the problem at a lesser cost to you.

There was no mention of a leak test being performed...I think I will ask him why...Also why did they not tell me to wash out the unit outside and clean it up, it seems that it should have be mentioned to me..alot of folks don't even know about cleaning the unit out..You would believe the dirtiness that I washed away .. I started my research and found this as a regular maintainance procedure....If he checked for leaks after they installed the R-22 Freon then it was not mentioned....I have learned that if a person is low on Freon or refrig. then this can cause the evaporator coil to freeze up.. Also high humidity can cause this, and a dirty filter and dirty evaporator coil...My money is on low Freon...Leak somewhere....But I ain't no pro at this stuff that's for sure....

All of that is correct.

If it is in fact Freon (R-12), that stuff is supremely expensive because they haven't made it in years...so the only way to get it is to recover it from old systems or buy old stock remaining...and there's not much of it.

But I agree, it is a closed system, to add refrigerant without first doing a leak check is just stupid. He should have hooked up manifold gauges, checked the pressures, and if it was down, found and fixed the leak, BEFORE adding more. Adding more without fixing the leak just means it's going to leak out again.
