ADIRONDACK MNTS. YEARLY RIDE

Postby Sally » Mon Sep 16, 2013 6:57 pm

Yep Wednesday is the day it's going to be 72 and I'm taking my yearly ride to the Adirondack's. Two years ago my bike made the front cover of GWRRA magazine ( March 2011) . We had rode two days in pooring raining but I had to have that picture glad I did..Been going to the ADK since 1966 first year my parents took us on vacation. I've returned there ever since for a day or two each year. Long lake is my home away from home. I'm like a kid in a candy store can't sleep. I'm ready to roll   SALLY

I had to look it up, and I can understand why you would be drawn back there. One of their sites is quite impressive. For those interested it is:

Quite a neat site.

The world is not going to finish today, as it is already tomorrow in Australia and New Zealand, and other islands of foreign nations such as Guam and Samoa.

It's a great place for leaf peeping when they are changing, lots of excellent twisty roads, and not much traffic during the week. It one of the things that makes living in New York bearable. Although the Finger Lakes area is as good with the additional bonus of all the wineries!

AMEN ALL I think that maybe I may live in one of the nicest areas in New York. Anyways the ride was unbelievable 12 hours with a friend both wings ran perfect all day.A Bit cool in the morning about 40 but warmed nicley on way up around 62 in the mountains just right with all the gear on. No traffic didn't hit any school bus traffic. My buddy never has been in the old Forge hardware a MUST stop if your ever close. Then on to Long Lake for a great lunch at the ADK Hotel. Then a turn and burn home by this time it was 2:30 with a good four hour ride in front of us.I asked what the night times temps were getting down to she said 27 last night. That's why we didn't may it a two dayier.Would have had to wait till 10:30 in morning just to start riding. Sorry I didn't take any pictures on this trip just rode and rode. I have some of last visit if you would like to see them..Anyway if anyone ever in the fingerlakes any wants to ride let me know.. Sally  Right smack dab in the middle of the fingerlakes area.
