got out for a ride today

Postby maestro319 » Mon Oct 21, 2013 6:56 pm

I've been out of town for a little over 2 weeks and gone for most of the last 4 weeks and haven't had a chance to ride during that time. Got out today for a short ride to a neighboring town. Woo Hoo!! Temp in the 40's, wind from 15-25 mph, BUT still it was a great day for a ride!! :D

I still had frost on my truck at 2pm yesterday, might even get some snow today here in Alaska, the GL1500 is in my hot tub room, the tub isn't being used this winter, the 95 Virago is in my man cave, the 2009 Star 1300 and the 1989 Yamaha Venture are outside in their bike shed, the 85 GL1200, the 83 CX650 and the 80 CX500 are in a shelter garage, the rest of the bikes are at work in storage.
No more riding for me until at least march if not late april, not unless I travel outside the state and that may be the only way I get to ride in the winter. My bother down in CA will buy me a used bike just so the two of us can ride, I will take him up on that I think.

Did a 325 mile ride last Sunday afternoon/evening. Temps in the 70's cooling down to the 40's at night. They are predicting snow in the mountains (6-8 inches) on Monday night. Got a ride down to San Diego over to Phoenix and back planned for November if the rains hold off.

Shiver, you Northerners. We are having an excellent Spring, lots of riding, but the wind blew up really strong the other day, so I just stopped off and had another ice cream and took a while to eat it. Thinking of you, but not too much

The world is not going to finish today, as it is already tomorrow in Australia and New Zealand, and other islands of foreign nations such as Guam and Samoa.

Go on rub it in!! We are having some lovely sunshine at the moment but temps are only just above freezing, so too cold for me!! Think I need to put some moth balls on the wing and let her hibernate for the winter!!

Roll on next spring..

I was out on the Wing Sunday morning. Nice ride , bright and sunny (though it rained hard the night before leaving plenty of water on the roads) but blustery crosswinds made the ride exciting at times. That was probably the last warm ride of the year as the weather is now stormy and cold, and I now have a bike plastered in mud so I hope it's bike washing weather this week end.

Thrasher knows since he lives up here, the winter its quick and the moisture is always the issue. I am not ready to mothball my bike yet, but it is supposed to rain starting Thursday and stay goofy for 3-4 days. We will have to see, I am just not ready to give up the ghost yet on this season.

By the way, did not take Redial to pipe in with all his warm weather!!! Ugh, I need more of that, lol.
