Tank pads/knee pads/knee grips

Post by augie47au » Sun May 02, 2010 12:48 am

I was wondering if anyone knows where to purchaseany knee grips.
I am looking for some in the older shape like use to be on Triumph/ BSA etc, but I would like them in either a blue to match the GL1800 or a clear type gel approximately 3 to 5mm in thickness. Not the new fish bone type on the market used by dirt bike riders.

Many thanks
ken

Thank you to tfdeputydawg, I checked the pads out and it is exactly what I want but in a dark blue or preferably clear so the colour of the tank shows through.

If I don't find what I want then I will go with these.

Thanks again
Ken

Can't find any blue but, here's clear so the blue would show through:

Thank you again tfdeputydawg,
I checked the clear film out, but no it is not what I am after.
I actually need them to be firstly Knee grips, protecting the paint is secondary.
Down hill in tight cornering I slip forward and want the knee grips to stop that happening.
I checked 'amazon.com' saw STOMP TANK PAD KIT SV650/1000 - STOMP - these have a pimples effect which I dont want.
SHOW CHROME TANK SCUFF PADS CARBON- 52-720 (GL1800) not clear and dont know if they grip.
So I am pretty particular. I will keep looking, but if you happen to see what I want I would appreciate your reply.
regards
Ken

I'll keep trying.
If the Triumph pads would work, the new Trimuph Bonneville SE has them. Maybe a dealer would sell the knee pads to you.
Here's a link to Triumph of Australia for you to see if there's a dealer near you:

For those interested I emailed STOMP re knee pads and they asked if I wanted the knee pads for grip or paint protection and I stated the following ;-
I want it mainly for grip but a dual purpose is good. I do not like to pimple effect but would like it to suit a dark blue wing. I suppose clear gel type would be the best or a clear gel with a fleck so as not to be to bawdy. I don’t want to take away any looks of the bike so focus is on the knee grips.

and received this back from Dave;-
Ken,

That's exactly what I wanted to hear and confirmation of our research for that market. Please check back with me in 2 months for status.
