Hello! I have really enjoyed the membership to this website. I stumbled upon this site while working on my 83 gl1100A i purchased privately over a year ago. First i would like to introduce my Wing. My wife calls it "Valhalla". (LOL) I bought this bike from a harley owner. He purchased the Wing because of the trailer and hitch that was on it. Then he listed the Wing on craig's list and i drove 7 hours to purchase it. I stood in his front porch and drooled. The Wing was in his front porch! Clean and beautiful with only 21,000 miles on it. I understood the engine needed work and harley man thought it was head gaskets. I didnt care. I hauled it 7 hours home and took the heads off. Yep, the left cyl. head gasket was etched from a cracked fire ring into a water passage. I replaced the head gaskets and it ran without white smoke. Unfortunately after riding the Wing around my small town i discovered the 1100 engine would not idle. So, with a lil bit of parts from Randakk's Cycle Shack and an afternoon of stinky carb cleaner i had a 83 GL1100A that started instantly, Idled perfectly and acclerated with amazing power. 4,000 miles last summer. Love that Wing!!! This spring I went out and pulled the Honda cover off of the bike and charged the battery. The wing spun over twice and the starter went out.(LOL) So with the help of discountstarterandalternator.com i had a brand new starter with cable delivered to my door for 125.00! I sought help from our gracious "WingAdmin" when i read in the shop manual (yes, i got an original 83 gl1100a honda shop manual with the bike!) and it told me to pull the engine. I was re-assured that it was quite simple and read the "how to article". I didnt stop there, i put new tires, brakes, wheel bearings, and a fresh battery on the Wing. "Valhalla" is ready for this summer with no good estimates on miles expected to ride!!! I paid 2K for this Wing!!!!

I just bought a 81 1100 GL and payed less than $800 but it has 5600KM on it i think it has sat since it was 1 yr old in a barn with no heat. Everything is seized and the fuel is glue. Will take a while, but you give me encouragement.
