Merry Christmas...and Ice!

Postby WingAdmin » Wed Dec 25, 2013 9:58 am

Merry Christmas to all the wonderful users who really make this place what it is.

I thought I would share some pictures I took yesterday morning near Toronto. They had the worst ice storm in history, with millions of dollars of damage done, and power outages in excess of 72 hours - some people are still without power, and it is currently -15C, or 0 F.

Thankfully the only ice we have is in my refrigerator. They have an ice storm in some part of eastern Canada every year. It's a good reminder to be prepared. We take power and water for granted and when we are suddenly without it it creates an unexpected hardship.

Damage and inconvenience aside it does look very pretty.

Nice pics.
Rain came down like stair rods yesterday but It's been sunny, if cold, all day today and there has been some bad flooding in some parts of the country.

I grew up in the cold white north and lived there (Bay Village, west of Cleveland) for over 30 years. Now that I live in S.W. Fl. I will visit the north but I like being able to ride all year long. Talked to the kids in Akron and had fun telling them that it is 75 down here at 7:45pm on Christmas day

Thanks for your wishes, and, please, please, please, send some ice this way - my beer is getting too warm :lol: At 10am it is 29C (about 84F), have taken the dogs for a walk, and am getting ready for an outside BBQ with a cold beer (if the ice arrives in time). Be happy, and enjoy your health, wealth, and happiness.

Merry Christmas to you Scott and your family as well as all the folks on this site. We had the same ice storm here in Michigan, crystallized everything outdoors and it also did a lot of damage to the trees causing power outages in many areas. Luckily we Didn't lose it here at home but we just left my sons house in DeWitt, MI (north of Lansing) where we have been living for the past few months and the power went out there for about a day right after we left to spend Christmas at home. That ice storm happened on Sunday and the trees are just now losing the ice coating today (Thursday) never seen it stay on the trees that long before.

Redial,

Your beer can never be too warm!
The game's afoot;
Follow your spirit: and upon this charge,
Cry — God for Harry! England and Saint George!

Here's a video I took of the damage around my parents' house. They were without power for 72 hours, however some people have now been without power for almost a week.

My wife is the greatest - she won't let me sell my bike - I'm less grumpy when I ride...
