Aluminum Valve Stems

Postby seabeechief » Mon Dec 30, 2013 9:00 pm

I found a website, motorcycleanchor.com, that has aluminum valve stems. The website appears to be ready to take my order but I had a couple of questions, so I googled them to get contact info. The website says the guy that owned the company died in either 2005 or 2009 (the information was rather confusing). So, does anyone out there know anything about the company or their products? All help appreciated.

I knew Marc through his work on katriders.com. Great guy, tragically died while riding.

I bought the tire valves from him, along with a full set of Speedbleeders for my 1100. Great guy to deal with.

Having said all that, I'd ask at katriders.com before attempting to order from his site, as some pages haven't been updated in seven years...or find an alternate vendor.

Are you talking about the aluminum tire valve stems?

Dusty, that looks like the same thing, but in a different color. I have found some others that look similar, so I can't say for sure if your picture is the exact same valve stem. The motorcycleanchor.com website was very detailed and informative, but I'm not qualified to distinguish between factual information and razzle-dazzle BS. So far, I have not had one negative comment about the guy who used to run the site before his untimely demise in a motorcycle accident.

I know of two other sources for those 11.3 mm aluminum valves.

One is Kurvey Girl

and the other is an eBay seller I bought mine from 4 - 5 yrs ago, which was a little bit cheaper

Not sure about the rims on the 1800, but for the 1500s, you have to grind off a little bit of the valve support tab in order for these valves to fit.

Dusty, the tabs have to be ground down for the 1800 as well, according the website I visited. I don't have a clue if the 1800 stems require 11.3 mm stems. Even though I have had my Wing for a little over two years, I'm still playing catch up ball. Riding a Harley was a lot easier, just not as comfortable!

Yes, it's the 11.3 mm that they take. ;)

Just make sure you tighten them up good when you install them.
