New to group...

Postby PLSmith » Tue Feb 18, 2014 10:07 am

New to the group.
Been riding for over 45 years. This is my first Goldwing. Went with the 1500 because we wanted to add a sidecar so the 3 year old could travel with us.
The lil one loves to ride. He is good for about 30 mins or so before he is asleep. lol
We went with the Hannigan Astro 2+2 sidecar. We've put around 6,000 miles since Aug. So far we love it.
I have enjoyed reading the different articles on the site.

Welcome. That looks like a nice outfit - but you have the sidecar on the wrong side. :D

Hi

Welcome to the group.

Love the look of the side car, is that a leather seat I see? Love to see more pics of the outfit.

Hello PL and welcome to the website from the U.P. of Michigan. Congratulations on your new ride and beautiful sidecar. I would suggest that you practice in an empty parking lot by setting up a few traffic cones about 50 feet apart and do figure 8s. It will get you used to turns on both directions and the extra width including the sidecar. Also watch when you are approaching a fuel pump, those yellow posts jump right out at you. Ride safe.

Thanks, yes it has a leather seat. It's wide enough for 2 small adults. It holds the carseat and has plenty of room left over. The trunk will hold about 7cubic feet of storage. We have had our bags packed and have put the carseat in the trunk so the wife could ride with him in the rig when it was raining. I've posted some pictures in an album. Are our albums on here open for all to view? If not I'll post some more pics here later.

Thanks for the welcome.
Your practice ideas are really great and have been practiced many times. The man we got the rig from is a sidecar safety instructor and gave me all types of great techniques to practice. I would suggest anyone going from 2 wheels to 3 to use them and practice, practice, and practice. :) I have about driven it about 6000 miles now and continue to learn something new each ride.
Thanks again for your welcome and great practice suggestions.

Ok thanks.
I've posted a few in a 'sidecar folder' and will post some more later today when I get back to the house.
