how many miles?

Postby greenbaypackfan » Tue Mar 04, 2014 11:43 pm

I have always heard of these goldwings getting high mileage. What I would like to know is how many and how high they have. I have a 1996 Aspenstate, or Intercade, really its a Interstate with everything except reverse, and it has 530,000 miles on it. It runs like a top. So who has the higher mileage ones. Not what you have heard about, what you know for a fact!!!

I don't think you will find much competition. Are those all your miles?

Love to see lots of pics, it must have a few decent battle scars with all those miles.

I am the third owner. The first put almost all the miles on it. Then my friend bought it and put on a few, then I bought it from him. I'll post a pic of it when I can.

Wow, I hope mine will last me long enough to get that many miles, or is it that I last that long. They seem to be great bikes and with a little preventive maintenance just keep on going. I'm going to have to do a lot of riding to catch up with you. :D

Yep, worked it out. At my current annual mileage, - 5000 miles, I will be 166 years old by the time I get that many miles under my Wing's belt. Sober thought.

I got an 83 last fall with 29K original miles. When I wear it out I'll let you know. It took me 27 years to wear out my BMW R90. I'm 59 now so I'll have to hurry up with this one!

I ended my engines life with 204k on it. Compression was down to about 55 psi on all 4 cylinders. BUt the problem with these bikes is that they are only 5 digit counters so it could be 104, 204 504 hell it could even be 1000104. Plus yoyu can disconnect the speedo cable and run 200k and then reconnect it and claim that the bike has 25k.

I am not saying you are wrong I am just saying that it is absolutely not verifiable.

I realize it is hard to believe, but I have the original speedo ( put a digital one on ) and it says 516,000. The original owner has been all over the continental U.S. with it. Including many trips to Alaska. He lives in Wisconsin.

That's fantastic to have that many miles and still have decent compression without losing oil. I have a 93 with 98k on it and it perks along great yet. I thought that was decent miles but that is hardly broken in compared to yours. That's great to know.

I have never even heard of a Wing going that many miles so I do believe you have a winner. 250k is all I have heard of so... Mine has 113,000 on it now and runs well. Plan to put another 100k on her before maybe upgrading to a lower mileage ride. We shall see.

I don't have a 1500 but I don't think the speedometer has a hundred thousand dial so if the speedometer says 516000 that would be 51,600.0 - and if that is the case you you got a good deal on a bike with only 51,000 miles.

I have a '93 Aspencade with 110,000 on it. Still runs pretty good. However, if it sits awhile, when I start it, it puffs alittle blue smoke out the left pipe. I think the left pipe. There has been snow on the ground since November, so I'm trying to go off memory. Anyways, it goes away almost immediately. Hope all is well. Still sub freezing temps this week, but at least its above 0 at night now. Gotta love Wisconsin...

I may be wrong but it seems to me that these are million mile bikes if used. It is the riding once in awhile stuff that kills them. Maintenence and love will keep these on the road for a very long time.

They are like women, well loved and well treated will cement their dedication.

A little blue smoke is ok. Mine does that too if I park it on the side stand. A little oil seeps in and gets burned up. If you park it on the center stand you shouldn't see any blue smoke.

My 91 1500 had a 6 digit odometer as does my 2000. I had 280000 of the 91 when I moved that body to this 2000. That now has 147000+

There are a lot of people that ride 40 - 50,000 miles annually. I have done more than 14,000 in a single month. No reason to doubt.

I have been averaging 20,000 a year mostly just commuting to work and back.
If I didn't need this job, and I didn't like my wife or children, I could see putting that many miles on just seeing America.

My 1989 1500 has 159,000 miles on the odometer and my 2006 1800 has over 111,000 miles. All of mileage is mine so I am sure it's accurate on both of them. I've had to replace the drive shaft on each one, but no engine troubles. I'm shooting for at least 300k on the 1800.
