wind shield air buffeting

Postby furnacedoc » Sat Mar 08, 2014 6:18 pm

Hello I have a 97 gl1500se. I am 6'4" and my wife is 5'6" . she has a lot of buffeting and wind especially if we are riding on the interstate at 60 -80 mph. I am considering replacing the windshield and would like feedback from anyone how had this problem and how you corrected it . I like to look over the top of the windshield to ride but if that means I need to go to a taller than stock screen or wider I am willing to do this, just don't want to waste money or time experimenting. thanks and see ya on the road

I've got air wings and hand wings (the hand wings are amazing - they make a huge difference at bringing in cool air in the summer, and keeping cold air out in cooler weather), and a Tall Tulsa windshield. The Tall Tulsa gets rid of most if not all buffeting for the passenger.

Had a Tulsa Tall on my 1500. Loved it!
However, with the F4 being scratch protected coating on polycarbonate, I want no more acrylic shields.

My Wing had air wings but I had to remove them so I could get to my highway platforms and not ride bowlegged

After some very expensive shield buying, the winner was the F4 +4" vented. Very pleased!
I ordered ours through wingstuff and was able to have the tall shield cut so it could be lowered the 4".
You won't see that option on the web site and they may even tell you they don't cut the shields. It can be done.
