Good motoring with the sidecar!

Like most new things, take it carefully when riding, until you get used to the different handling. With the sidecar on the right, just be careful on those right hand turns, as the sidecar will lift on those turns. Some riders like to keep their foot on the joining strut to assist in balance, but I did not find that necessary. Make sure you can handle it on your own before loading someone into the sidecar, and practice those figure eights. With a sidecar you will not be as agile as a solo, but you can learn to work within the limits, and still have lots of fun.

In Oz, the sidecar passenger(s) has to wear a helmet, so it might be wise to check with the local laws as to what happens in your area. They are treated the same as a pillion passenger. You may have to work out a signalling system, (apart from screaming), when the pax needs to alight for a comfort stop, or else, extend your intra-bike communication system to cater for the sidecar.

Be considerate for your pax, and they will get more comfortable being in the 'chair' and enjoying the ride, as time goes by. It is quite daunting, especially in heavy city traffic, as you feel a little trapped for the first few times.

But all in all, it is a good way to go.

The world is not going to finish today, as it is already tomorrow in Australia and New Zealand, and other islands of foreign nations such as Guam and Samoa.

Check out sidecar.com. It is the site of the United Sidecar Club. They have a great forum with lots of expert advice, you will probably be able to find someone who can help with mounting the California Sidecar, by the way it makes a good match for the 1500, and requires a subframe for the bike. They also offer a couple of books that you can download free, lots of great info, great people, lots of fun.
