Hardtop Canopy

Postby kingpinent » Sat Aug 02, 2014 8:09 pm

Not sure if that is what it is called, but the photo in my Aug. 2014 issue of GoldwingDocs, shows a Canopy type of Hardtop over the biker and his rider. This covers them both from windshield to back. The subject is about "Rain Suits and Rain Gear" but there was no mention about this bikes add on. Does anyone know where I can obtain one of these or was it custom made by that bikes owner? I travel on by bike for business as well as pleasure and I could sure use one of these for the adverse weather I encounter.

I wondered what it was myself. Not sure that I would want one though. Enough weight now. :)

Obviously made of fiberglass and likely using lightweight conduit as the framework. I figure, since the photo shows the rider and passenger, it probably doesn't weigh more than 50lbs. That is fine with me. I am a traveling service tech and ride my Goldwing all over the country. I try to route myself around adverse weather but that is not always possible. This would be great for me as I am also designing my own version of a windshield wiper for the bike.
Does onyone else have any idea who makes this hardtop? I really want one.

Not for me. There is no way I would use that canopy. I can just see going airborne in a gust of wind.

If you look on the Japanese Honda Goldwing site (http://www.honda.co.jp/GOLDWING/photo/), you will find the wiper is standard equipment. This made me ask the question, is there a wiring harness for the wiper on American bikes? They are both made in Japan.

Correct, my VTX 1800 was also made in Marysville, OH. I know companies love to save money, so I'm wondering if the wiper wiring connection is their on all bikes.

This is true, companies do tend to be cheap, so you may have a point. . . .

Also makes me wonder if they are a single speed wiper or multi speed wiper ?
