How Many Miles......

Postby Mag » Sat Aug 16, 2014 10:47 pm

So, the NW weather in the states has been stupid.....lightning, rain after long dry spells (never want to drive in first rain), 95 degree weather....go figure, that is not riding weather. So I had to do errands today, and due to where I live, it took 110 miles to go to town  All I had to do was buy a cell phone for the daughter, register the truck, and get some pork for the bbq tonight....110 miles. Where did I go?

For those that do not know, or do not remember, I live in WA State, base of Mt St Helens. I took a drive from zip code 98645, down to Longview, WA, registered the truck $56........then to US Cellular to buy my daughter a cell phone (not ready for that, but it is her 18th bday, so happy B Day Sweetie!!!) @ $150, but dropped my cell phone bill by $10 by adding her line on, so will break even in 15 months, and then to O'Reilly's AutoParts for something they did not have in stock, back to home (20 miles) and then back downtown (10 miles) to get some pork steaks. The BBQ was great, and I stretched out on my Wing and took every back road I could.....110 miles later. I left at 10:30 a.m. and back at 3 p.m., a great day of riding.

My question to you.....how many miles today? Today only....Saturday.....don't add up over the last week, that does not count, lol, today only.......

156 miles for me. Rode down the peninsula through Oly and over through Yelm. Wound up in Graham to watch my nieces son win his first a main event in Quarter Midget Heavy Honda class. He was jazzed for sure.

Rode from there through old stomping grounds up to South Tacoma. Went to my other nieces 3 yr old sons birth day, dropped off a thomas the tank engine wodden train set and was his number one uncle.

Rode back across the Narrows Bridge and up the peninsula to home. Filled her with fuel. 3.95 gal for the day and she is very happy.

Started at 10am and got home at about 8:20pm. Great day overall.

I rode about 40 miles, only, today. To the store and back again, the long way around... stopped and filled the gas tank on the way home.
I am wrong as often as I am right concerning what is wrong with someone else' motorcycle without having seen the machine in person. Guessing with limited information, as to the source of the trouble, is sketchy at best.

We had a benefit ride today for a lady battling cancer (raised over $8000, praise God). The ride was started about 30 miles from the house and was about 100 miles so total ride today was about 160 miles. Stopped by brother-in-law's camp on the way home and he had a port roast on the smoker so we stayed and helped him eat it. It was a great day, course any day on the bike it a great day!

Well, this is the day after the following Saturday, and although I rode zero miles on the Saturday asked about, yesterday, I rode 350 miles (or 560 Kms) which greatly lowered my anxiety about not getting to ride. It was a glorious day, temperatures between 60 and 80 F (16 and 23 C) and surprisingly, almost nobody on the twisty backroads, leaving me all alone to carve the curves. Man it was a blast after over a week of the wets. Had lunch in Parry Sound, stopped at Sudbury at the biking supplies store and then back to North Bay by 4 PM. (Left North Bay shortly after 8 AM) It was a great day to be in a saddle.
