Postby lloydhendricks61 » Fri Jun 04, 2010 7:31 pm

Proud owner of a 1980 GL 1100 rescued from the weeds three years ago. she is now using about a quart of oil every 500 mile! No signs of leaks and no smoke! any ideas?

If it's not leaking, it's burning. A quart over 500 miles isn't enough to make smoke, but you can pretty sure that's where it's going. Either worn valve guides or worn piston rings. Valve guides are easier to replace (and cheaper). :)
