I want to carve a pumpkin with a 1500 pic on it.

I want to carve a pumpkin with a 1500 pic on it. I've never done pictures on a pumpkin before but thought it would be fun for this year. Any suggestion on how to do this?

Get a pic of the goldwing ya wanna carve,,,,, make a photocopy of it and enlarge it to fit the pumpkin you are going to use. Tape to the pumpkin and using either a small nail or old ball point pen make indentations around the parts of the pic making sure you go into the outermost part of the pumpkin skin.... Take off the pic and trace the areas between the indentations. Now you have your starting point and just cut and carve to meet your needs.... Good luck.....

I think this would be a good pic to use. Transfer the image to the pumpkin by whatever means, poking holes as above, carbon paper, however, the scrape/cut away the pumpkin's skin only in the areas of the pic that are black. That would let the light show through only in those areas. I think they call this "pumpkin etching". Google it for more info and techniques.

Thanks.. I'll have to buy 15-20 pumpkins and see how many it takes me to get it right.

I have seen a few do this using a dremel tool for the carving, and like stated above, just carve out the black lines of the picture. You can also get "dual colors" (light & darker) by doing two different depths of carving, shallower for dark and deeper for light. Best of luck and let us see the finished product (as well as the screw up !).
