&):-"(; tires

Postby Tpawre » Wed Oct 22, 2014 10:27 am

So up here in nh its close to storage time. Over the winter im buying new tires for my 90 gl1500. Instead of reading individual recomendations and the "buy these and dont buy those", which i have, is there a site that has all the brands, size and reviews? I want to make my own informed decision, im pretty good at it as i bought a wing!im really looking forward to it as with a used bike, the tires are far from perfect and its the last thing to be done for a perfect, confident ride. Thanks

I know of no such site. Manufacturers also start and stop making tires all the time, so you may find a review that covers a tire no longer available. Some retail sites online will have reviews, but I tend to view reviews on sites selling items as suspect, particularly those filled with glowing reviews as you never know if negative reviews are simply being removed.

I researched tires in general, and then searched for best deals on the brand and model tires I picked out. One thing I learned was, I didn't know nearly as much about tires as I believed I did. Good luck with your search.
I am wrong as often as I am right concerning what is wrong with someone else' motorcycle without having seen the machine in person. Guessing with limited information, as to the source of the trouble, is sketchy at best.

Well the way i look at a lot of different items from different manufacturers is you put them in a bag, shake it, dump it and they all come out the same.
I decided on shinko 733 on the front and 734 on the back. I've read reviews from manufacturers as well as customers, and for the money and the mileage per yr. i plan on, not immense, i figure i'll give em a shot.
Any comment will be welcome

Tpawre,

Perhaps after you install the new Shinkos this winter you can measure tread depth and then after riding on them all summer next year you can again measure tread depth and give us all a report on how well they held up as well as your opinion as to how they handled. And perhaps that opinion could be divided into two parts the first being on after the first 1,000 miles and then at the end of the riding season.

Obviously the more facts you provide the better.
