Nice work Iron (Butt) Man!
I am wrong as often as I am right concerning what is wrong with someone else' motorcycle without having seen the machine in person. Guessing with limited information, as to the source of the trouble, is sketchy at best.

I thought about doing the 1000 miler. My "trouble" is, we have horses, some are "senior" horses, that require someone to be here to feed and generally look after them every day. I work during the week, and my wife does the horse work along with being a wife, mother and the doing other things in her life that keep her busy... so on the weekends, I try to pick up the "Horse" slack to give her a little bit of a break. That translates into, I'm kind of anchored to the farm when I'm not at work.

Having written that, if I got a mad urge to hop on my motorcycle and go for a ride for two days, I sincerely doubt I'd ever hear anything out of my wife, other than "Did you have a good time?" It does mean that we don't get out much. I'm thinking of a weekend getaway on the NC Outer Banks in another month, so I'm saving up my "you owe me" equity with the two youngest kids, to guilt them into staying at the house so their Mom and me can take a two day break around Thanksgiving... I've still got time to get my Iron Butt certificates... and I do plan on taking off and earning a couple before too long.

two days? you've only got 24 hours to start and finish an IBA ss1000. we left at 6am on Friday and had to be finished by 6am Saturday morning. if you plan to do it make your ride all on the expressway not on two lane back roads and you'll be home in time to play with the horses...... after taking a good nap
